Palworld has materials you constantly need to grind when crafting better items, with Sulfur being a key component in decking out your character with Guns and high-grade weaponry. Unfortunately, Sulfur can be difficult to come by if you don’t know where to farm it.Â
Sulfur is the most important ingredient when crafting Gunpowder, and you use it as a material in various ammo and weaponry. You don’t have Guns or Gunpowder unlocked by default when you first load into Palworld, which is also why you won’t just stumble across Sulfur when wandering around near the first region on the map. Here’s where to find Sulfur and save some time in your mid to late-game grind.
Where to find Sulfur in Palworld
With Palworld’s Sakurajima update, you can now set up a Sulfur Mine at any of your bases. You will need to source some Sulfur and a few more ingredients to build a Sulfur Mine, but don’t forget you must reach a particularly high level to unlock the Technology first.
For those looking to farm the resource in the good old way, Sulfur can appear in a few different areas, though Palworld likes to stash it in some hard-to-reach places occasionally, including spots outside the overworld. If you want to focus on making a Sulfur farm or mining some deposits, you can find the distinct, yellow-tinted rock housing the mineral in two main biomes—the Desert and Volcano. Remember to bring at least a Metal Pickaxe because Sulfur only drops when using quality mining tools.
Desert Biome Sulfur tips
The Desert Biome is great for grinding rare materials like Coal and High Tier Pal Oil, but Sulfur is abundant among the dunes and rocky outcroppings. If you roam around the area, you should find plenty of the yellow deposits lying around for you to mine, and this is a great place to set up a mining farm since you can catch Pals like Digitoise, which have good Work Suitabilities for the job.Â
Volcano Biome Sulfur tips
The Volcano Biome is slightly harder to access than the Desert Biome since it has stronger Pals and enemies, along with one of the two hardest Tower Bosses in the game. The upside is you can find Sulfur scattered throughout the area right below that Tower at the top of Mount Obsidian, making it an easy place to farm the resources. Because it is also right next to a Fast Travel spot, you can jump back and forth to drop off your items easily.
How to find Sulfur in Palworld’s Dungeons and Caves
Sulfur is one of several resources you can also find deposits of when you enter the various Dungeons spread around the Palworld map.
This is not a reliable way to grind the resource since everything that spawns in a Dungeon is randomized, and no two caves are the same. But, if you get lucky, you might find a few Sulfur deposits early on when you hop into some lower-level Dungeons.
How to build a Sulfur Mine in Palworld
To build a Sulfur Mine, you must unlock the Technology first. If you haven’t already, grind to reach level 52 and then use one Ancient Technology point to get the Sulfur Mine from the Technology tab.
Once you unlock it, here’s what you need to set up a Sulfur Mine in Palworld:
- 70x Stone
- 100x Sulfur
- 30x Paldium Fragment
You can use the techniques described above to farm that much Sulfur and build the mine, so you never have to worry about running out of the resource again. Then again, building a Sulfur-focused base is always going to be faster. We recommend combining your farming efforts with a mine at the base to help reach your objectives as soon as possible.
Best way to farm and transport Sulfur in Palworld
Sulfur, like other mineral-based materials such as Ore, is heavy. This means your inventory will fill up quickly and leave you unable to move properly if you try to bring too much back to your base. That leaves you two effective options to farm Sulfur easily—building a base nearby or improving your Storage.
Once you get your first base’s Palbox to level 10, you can unlock the ability to place a second Palbox base down elsewhere in the overworld. This opens up the ability to create a base specifically for farming important resources like Ore and Sulfur. Finding a good spot to set up a Sulfur and Ore farm in the Desert or Volcano Biome is a good call when you start using Gunpowder and Ingots more in crafting recipes.
If you don’t want to go through the hassle of setting up another base that you need to build up, fill with Pals that excel at transporting material, and defend from potential raids, your best bet is to increase your Storage capacity. You can only do this by leveling up your player character and then using the stat points to increase your Strength stat. But certain Pals, such as Cattiva and Lunaris, have Partner Skills that increase your carrying capacity if they’re in your party. These stack, too, so you can fill your party with Cattivas, and each one will boost your carrying capacity.
