What's for sale, shady dealer?

Black Marketeers are important human NPCs in Palworld. They’re ghoulish entities wearing an executioner’s hood and smoking a pipe, with a sinister grin on their faces.

There are 12 Black Marketeers currently confirmed in Palworld. They are spread across the multiple islands of the archipelago but have a favorite location in the Windswept Hills—where three of the Black Marketeers reside. These are the locations of the twelve dastardly merchants.

As of the writing of this article, there are no wandering Black Marketeers. Unlike Pal Merchants, these 12 guys are all you get.

The Marketeers can be difficult to find. For instance, the Mineshaft Marketeers are not exactly at the coordinates on the map—the entrance to their Mineshaft is usually nearby but covered by terrain features. In addition, many of the Marketeers by waterfalls are partially covered by the map. The Beachside, Cliffside, and Sharp Peninsula Marketeers are out in the open and should be easy to spot at their designated coordinates.

If you do not see a Black Marketeer in these locations, it is possible that someone killed or captured him. They respawn like all humans do, but you may need to wait one in-game day.

Best location to find a Black Marketeer in Palworld

While there are several Black Marketeers in Palworld, the most convenient one is located in the Abandoned Mineshaft below the Desolate Church. From the Desolate Church Waypoint, drop down the southwestern cliff and look around until you see a cave entrance lit up by torches. Enter that winding cave and find the Black Marketeer near the back—no combat or Pals required.

Use your markers

By pressing “E” or Interact on the map, you can place a custom marker with a symbol of your choice. When you find the Abandoned Mineshaft, use these markers to keep track of where it is for future visits.

There are a handful of Black Marketeers in the game, but this one is notable for being right next to a church waypoint. You’ll return to churches occasionally to level up your Capture Rate anyway, so you might as well swing down and sell a few things to your local Black Marketeer. The Desolate Church is also very low-level and nowhere near any other merchants, making it very safe to teleport to with contraband in tow.

Black Marketeers in Palworld tend to spawn under cliffs with basic fortifications, like Syndicate bases. Look for a few torches next to a cliff face or inside a cave, and you may find yourself a grinning madman to sell some poor souls to.

For example, there’s another Black Marketeer under the East Island cliffs shown on the map above. But he isn’t even close to the fast travel point at the upper-right hand of the island, making him quite awkward to consistently get to. Remember that Black Marketeers all purchase Pals at the same price as one another, just like Pal Traders, so you won’t get a better deal by tracking down alternatives.

What does a Black Marketeer do in Palworld?

Black Marketeers purchase stolen or illegal Pals for full price in Palworld. You can also sell captured humans for a big profit if you don’t want to butcher them for resources. Black Marketeers also sell Pals of higher rarity and variety than standard Pal Traders at a relatively decent price. Surprisingly, most of these Pals are legal to walk around with.

Since Black Marketeers focus on rare goods, they’re ideal for getting Pals you haven’t encountered yet. They also sell Fusion Pals, rare versions of Pals with different Elements, with words like “Lux” or “Cryst” in their name.

How Black Marketeer Pals and prices work

Black Marketeers, like many merchants in Palworld, have a rotating stock of Pals that restock daily. These are generally low-level Pals who tend not to be part of the region where the Marketeer is from and form a spectrum of rarities and power levels—their prices range from 2,500 gold to 30,000 gold, depending on the Pals’ species and skills.

If you want to purchase Pals at a Black Marketeer, you’ll likely be paying an average of 10,000 gold per Pal, depending on how exotic the stock is. You are also unlikely to see any particular patterns in a Black Marketeer’s sales—a Marketeer who sells a Warsect one day could sell a Cattiva the next. If you want to see a wide array of Pals, visiting the Abandoned Mineshaft, Frozen Wings, Mount Flopie, and the Desiccated Desert Black Marketeers is the best use of your time.

For example, in the above image, we purchased some contraband from a merchant in the Desert. Incineram Noct is normally available only through Wildlife Reserves—the first and second ones, specifically. Mau Cryst isn’t nearly as rare—as shown by its lower price of only 2,600 gold—but usually lives in the Land of Absolute Zero—not the Desiccated Desert where this Marketeer resides. Many Marketeers behave like this. They sell Pals from different regions and the Wildlife Reserve at a relatively high markup.

The price seems to be based on a Pals’ skills, size, and stats. For example, a level 10 Relaxaurus from a Marketeer can fetch price tags of up to 30,000 gold despite their non-rare status. This is likely due to a Relaxaurus’s high health, defense, and strong activated attacks.

In the above picture, a Robinquill fetches a lower price than a Flambelle—despite the latter being considered a weaker Pal. The Flambelle happens to have a stronger passive skill of Logging Foreman, which alters the price significantly in its favor. The level also plays a role in determining price, though not as radically. For example, despite being a theoretically rarer Pal than a Galeclaw, a Vaelet can underprice the Galeclaw if its level is low enough and its Passive Skills weak enough.

A Black Marketeer will purchase Pals for the same price as a Pal Merchant. Pals with higher rarity, stats, better attacks, and better passive skills will fetch the same price at every Black Marketeer in Palworld.

Tip: Yes, you can capture humans

The only difference between a Black Marketeer and a standard Merchant is that a Black Marketeer will purchase captured humans without becoming hostile.

Humans sell like Pals—higher-level humans of rarer types will sell better and tend to be upwards of three times the price tag of similarly-powered Pals. This can be profitable as long as you’re okay with some of them shattering your Pal Spheres.
