To play the latest World of Warcraft expansion, The War Within, players had to get to at least level 70. This made the expansion content challenging from the get-go—and then there’s other new WoW features blocked by a max level cap.
Here’s all the details on how high you can level in The War Within.
WoW The War Within level cap
The max level you can reach in WoW The War Within is 80. This means if you started the expansion with a level 70 character, you only need 10 more levels to hit the level cap.
This is similar to how Blizzard has increased the level caps for its past WoW expansions. For Dragonflight, the level cap increased from level 60 to level 70, and for Shadowlands, the max level cap went from 50 to 60.
Unlike with Dragonflight, however, completing the main storyline won’t be enough for you to hit max level in War Within—at least from my experience in the beta. Instead, you’ll also need to complete other activities, like dungeons and delves.
In saying that, certain WoW: The War Within content, like each dungeon, has a minimum level requirement. For example, to enter The Rookery the minimum level is 71, and to enter the Cinderbrew Meadery the minimum level requirement is 80, even though they’re both in the first zone on the Isle of Dorn. This means you may not be able to enjoy all the War Within content right away; you’re going to have to get grinding.
While you only have 10 levels to grind to hit the War Within max leve, achieving it will take time. So, enjoy the new content like delves, explore dungeons, and have fun.
