Baldur’s Gate 3 Self-Same Trial: How to win

Though the Faith-Leap Trial is challenging, the Self-Same Trial can be tough if you aren’t prepared. This challenge requires you to defeat mirror versions of yourself and your party members. You’ll need to defeat four enemies and they are all alternate versions of your party members. Now you know why it’s called Same-Safe Trial, huh?

It can be a bit tricky depending on who you bring and your weaknesses. Upon entering the room, you’re greeted with a check to see if you can clock the fact that you’re about to walk into an ambush. After this, you should be able to start planning out your first move.

My character is a Rogue, meaning my first attack is to perform a sneak attack on the first person I can gain an advantage on. However, I need to watch out for my mirror self because they are trying to do the same thing. On top of that, they can go in and out of invisibility.

After you land the first attack in the Self-Same Trial, it’s just a normal Baldur’s Gate 3 fight against a mirror match of your party. This means you should know all of their weaknesses, but also all of their strengths.

For myself, the biggest hurdle I had to overcome was invisibility. Since my friend is playing a Bard, they cast Faerie Fire to remove invisibility from an area; we also used See Invisibility spells and scrolls. I recommend using one of these spells because they are effective at removing invisibility.

If you don’t have those spells, use your Reactions to hit enemies when they come close. If you know you’re ally (and therefore your enemy) has AoE spells, I’d recommend standing away from each other.
