Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is the most faithful version of the imaginary sport yet, and it’s a ton of fun to finally have it in true video game form.
Playing Quidditch Champions is like re-enacting a scene from one of the Harry Potter books or films, and the sport itself along with its positions and how to play it have all been faithfully recreated in this sports-adjacent game.
On the pitch, every position on the Quidditch team has its role. While the Seekers are chasing the Golden Snitch and the Beaters are sending Bludgers flying, the Keeper is defending their goal rings. But there’s a very important ability that this specific position has, and it’s called Playcaller.
Here’s everything there is to know about Playcaller in Quidditch Champions.
Playcaller in Quidditch Champions, explained
In Quidditch Champions, Playcaller is an ability exclusive to the Keeper. Using Playcaller once its cooldown ends (triangle on PS5, E on PC) will trigger the ability, which sends your point-of-view flying forward over the pitch.
Using this flying camera angle, you can draw up to four Playcaller rings for your team to fly through by pressing R2 (left mouse click on PC). You can steer Playcaller by using the right analog stick or mouse the same way you steer while flying as a Chaser.
This ability is very useful if your team is flying toward the opponents’ goal rings and could use the speed boost, or if the opposition has the Quaffle and is heading your way. You can draw the Playcaller rings in front of your teammates to help them get back on defense more quickly.
The idea is to space the rings out in the best possible way for your team to use them, so they should be placed strategically in their field of flight so they don’t have to readjust mid-air too much. This could be the difference between a big points swing in any match.
If you need practice with Playcaller, select Open Practice or Exhibition from the Play menu to play as a Keeper and master the ability to get a hang of it before you queue up in the position for multiplayer matches.
