To initiate the Taste for Literature quest, you need to visit your mailbox and open the letter from Remy. This letter mentions a cookbook he spotted in the Glade of Trust and he asks you to fetch it for him since it’s far too big for him to carry.

To complete this quest, here are all of the steps you need to work through.

  • Find the cookbook.
  • Bring the cookbook to Remy.
  • View the memory.
  • Talk to the villagers from the memory.
  • Cook the mysterious Cajun dish.
  • Give all the villagers from the memory a taste of the dish.
  • Welcome the mysterious chef to the valley by placing their house.

How to find Remy’s cookbook in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The cookbook for Remy can be found on the ground in the Glade of Trust biome. It spawns randomly in this area which means you need to look around the entire biome until you find it.

Once you have the book, locate Remy and give it to him. This uncovers a lost memory, so pick up the memory to view it. In this image, Moana, Mickey Mouse, Merlin, and Remy are gathered for a picnic. There’s a mysterious hand reaching slightly into the frame with a delicious-looking dish, but neither you nor Remy can recall whose hand it is.

To solve this mystery, you now need to locate the villagers from the picture and talk with them to see if they can remember anything useful.

How to talk with the villagers from the memory in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The villagers featured in the memory you need to talk with for the A Taste for Literature quest are Moana, Mickey Mouse, and Merlin. Each character remembers a specific ingredient featured in the dish that the mysterious hand is holding.

  • Moana recalls the mysterious dish had Onions.
  • Mickey Mouse remembers that the dish in the picture had Rice.
  • Merlin recalls that the dish used a special kind of Chili Pepper variant called Dreamlight Pepper that he gives directly to you.

None of them have any idea who made the dish, so your next goal is to cook it to see if cooking the Cajun dish can jog your memory.

You can cook the mysterious Cajun recipe by combining Shrimp, Milk, Onion, Rice, and the special Dreamlight Peppers Merlin gave to you. These ingredients combine to make Enchanted Shrimp Étouffée.

After you make this dish, bring it back to each villager from the memory to see if you can piece together who cooked it.

  • Mickey Mouse recalls how the person who cooked it was savvy at business and a great singer too.
  • Remy remembers she really liked jazz music.
  • Moana recalls she loved the Glade of Trust biome because it reminded her of home.
  • Merlin remembers lending the unknown chef an enchanted cookbook and wonders if the magic may have gone wrong and trapped her inside.

Talking with all the villagers and sharing the recipe with them breaks the curse of the enchanted cookbook which frees Tiana, the mysterious chef you’ve been searching for. You can welcome her to the valley by offering her a taste of the Enchanted Shrimp Étouffée.

How to place Tiana’s house in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The final step in the A Taste for Literature quest is to place Tiana’s house so she has somewhere to live. You can place her home just like you would any furniture item, but you then have to visit the Scrooge McDuck sign in front to pay 5,000 Star Coins to build it.

Once her house is built, bring Tiana the Mysterious Cajun Recipe Book you found to kick off this quest so she can hold onto it. After this, Tiana is officially a resident of the valley and the A Taste for Literature quest is now complete. There’s still lots to uncover after unlocking Tiana, so make sure you review the Dapper Delights update patch notes to figure out what to do next.
