Astro Bot Downsize Surprise collectibles walkthrough All Bot, Puzzle Piece, and hidden secret exits

For such a small level, Downsize Surprise is big—and full of missable collectibles. The level features creatures great and small, and you need this guide if you’re collectible-hunting and want them all.

Astro Bot follows on from Team Asobi’s hit 2018 Rescue Mission VR and the mini-adventure in itself—Astro’s Playroom. Featuring more levels and more VIP Bots than ever before, there’s a ton of secrets to find, and doing so goes a long way to completing the trophy list.

You need to find all of Astro Bot‘s characters, Puzzle Pieces, and secret exits if you want to see everything the platformer has to offer. Downsize Surprise is a squeaky little number with plenty of cheesy collectibles hidden away.

All Downsize Surprise Bot locations in Astro Bot

Bot location one

Before you get Astro’s shrinking ability, the first Bot is in plain sight once you jump up to the first platform. Head over to the right-hand side and smash open the cage to get yourself off to a hot start.

Bot location two

A large collection of boxes and apples guards the passageway to Bot number two. Use Astro’s mighty attacks to fling everything away, turn into Astro’s mouse form, and travel through the tiny hole in the wall. On the other side of the wall, return to your normal size, break the wall at the end of the room, and rescue the Bot.

Bot location three

Hop and skip your way along Downsize Surpise’s main path until you reach the bedroom. You may notice a large lump in the middle of the bed, so climb up onto it, shimmy your way underneath the covers, and make Astro big again. Doing so removes the bed’s covers and reveals the third Bot.

Bot location four

Bot four in Downsize Surprise could be the easiest in the entire game as it’s quite literally shoved in your face (as you see above in the Location Four screenshot). Even if you blink, I don’t think you can miss this one, so I’ll save us all time and move on.

Bot location five

Once you’ve saved fourth Bot, Astro needs to climb a tree to carry on with the level. Again, instead of following the main branch Astro Bot wants you to go, jump onto one of the right-hand branches, and the VIP Bot is waiting in a nest for you.

Bot location six

There’s a metaphorical fork on the road once you get down from the tree to progress. Instead of going right and taking the natural path onward, smash the glass on the floor to the left to activate a floor fan, transform into Astro’s smaller form, and ascend to get to the frog. If you get close enough to the frog, it turns around and starts blowing bubbles soaring high into the sky. Jump onto a bubble, ride it up, and leap off once you can reach the cage. Again, make Astro large again to break your confines and rescue the sixth Bot.

Bot location seven

Now you’ve got six Bots in the bag, it’s time to do a complete 180-degree U-turn and take the other path in our previously mentioned fork in the road. This is the main level path, and once you pass some gears, the expectation is you stay in your smaller form to climb the clock. Once you get to the platform shown in our picture above, return to Astro’s default state, and rescue the final bot hanging onto the ledge.

All Downsize Surprise Puzzle Piece locations in Astro Bot

Piece location one

In the same area as Bot one, head over to this tree above and pull on the loose wires. Go into mouse form, crawl into the small space, and the first Puzzle Piece is unmissable.

Piece location two

Back with the bedroom area now and you need to climb up the right-hand side of the room to reach Puzzle Piece two. Keep ascending the various objects, and the collectible is hidden away inside the vent at the top.

Piece location three

You can find the final Puzzle Piece right near the end of Downsize Surprise. You encounter a clock using Astro’s smaller version of himself, and you need to cross the face’s hands to get to the other side. However, if you want the third Puzzle Piece, you need to wait for the hands to align correctly, walk up them, and jump up to reach the collectible high up.

Finally, once you’ve gotten the sixth bot, don’t leave the area. Instead, get back on a bubble, go back up, and instead of jumping at the cage, go a tiny bit higher and jump onto the branch above it. Now, jump onto the branch to the right, and there’s a power switch hiding out of sight. Hitting it makes the secret exit appear.
