Astro Bot‘s Construction Derby (no, not Destruction Derby) level aptly takes Astro to a construction yard filled with peril, moving parts, and a load of Bots and Puzzle Pieces waiting for you to find them.
Astro Bot‘s core story levels feature an assortment of Bots, Puzzle Pieces, and even the odd secret exit to Warp you away. Your time in Construction Derby is no different, as the Gorilla Nebula level utilizes sneaky hijinx to hide its valuable assets away.
However, using our PlayStation powers, we’ve tracked every Bot and Puzzle Piece down and put the information together in one handy guide.
All Construction Derby Bot locations in Astro Bot
Bot location one
It’s almost impossible to miss Bot number one as it’s hanging out in the open near the beginning of the level. Before the first glass bridge, look to your right and help this poor Bot get down by booting its booty.
Bot location two
You can now cross the highly unsafe glass bridge (seriously, who approved this?), and if you look at our screenshot for “Bot location two,” you can see a crane holding an object above two enemies. Wipe out the enemies and pull on the wire protruding from the object, causing the second Bot to fall out and automatically be rescued.
Bot location three
Shortly after you obtain your robotic dog companion special ability, smash through the glass, look to your left, and carefully climb up the ledges. You eventually make your way around and see the Bot standing precariously over a tall edge. Hop on over to them and claim the third Bot in Construction Derby.
Bot location four
You encounter Bot number four along the main level path before it’s whisked away by a UFO. Get through the mini-obstacle course, climb the ladder, and release the next Bot from the clutches of the pesky alien spaceship.
Bot location five
Press forward, and you come to a teeter-totter manipulated by three large paint dispensers. The level wants you to go left; however, we actually need to go right, which takes us to the bottom of the platform and into a secret area. Here, use the paint gun ability to reveal three hidden platforms for you to climb and rendevous with Parappa the Rapper.
Bot location six
Later in the level, you pass some glass with a photo opportunity behind it, and after this is a checkpoint. Head past the save point and jump onto the platform with two enemies—one of which tries to push you off the edge. Dispose of them, and use your special ability on the large stack of yellow crates to your right. You are propelled to the top, where Bot six is waiting.
Bot location seven
Push on until you reach the area in the screenshot above. You defeat two pink jumping enemies and trigger another checkpoint. Instead of going forward, turn to your right, jump across the platform, and fight off the two bullies tormenting the seventh and final Bot.
All Construction Derby Puzzle Piece locations in Astro Bot
Puzzle Piece location one
On the left side of this screenshot, there is a feint blue silhouette of the first Puzzle Piece (which we failed to capture the first time around, sorry). It’s right at the beginning of the level, and you need to time your ship’s boost right to snag the first Puzzle Piece.
If you miss the Puzzle Piece for whatever reason, restart the level and quickly try again.
Puzzle Piece location two
In the same area as Bot location three, opposite the basketball court, is a brief outside area. When you get close enough, a crane appears, so pull the wires to obtain a magnet, gather up a ton of paint cans and various metals, and throw the giant ball of miscellaneous garbage at the crane’s magnet switch. You can now hop on and grab the second Puzzle Piece.
Puzzle Piece location three
The third Puzzle Piece is a tricky and easily missable number. Reach Bot location seven, and if you look down one of the sides of the platform, you can see a jump pad. Hop onto the ledge next to the pad, and a sensor puzzle awaits. Run around the green segments until you feel the controller vibrate. This signifies you’re on the right one, so jump into the air and trigger Astro’s hover ability. This activates the platform to unveil the final Puzzle Piece.
Now that you’ve done this, also be sure to freeze a hammer-wielding deity with an axe and catch a gold butterfly in Apes on the Loose.
