One of the many secret trophies in Astro Bot involves finding a gold butterfly in the Apes on the Loose level, and despite sounding easy, the butterfly is well hidden.
If you’re looking to find it as quickly as possible so you can go back to capturing Bots and finding Puzzle Pieces, then we’ve got you covered.
How to complete the Net Profit trophy
After beating the Gorilla Nebula’s final boss in Astro Bot, a secret level based on the popular PlayStation IP Ape Escape unlocks. This level is called Apes on the Loose.
There are 10 Bots and three Puzzle Pieces to find here, but the level has a secret achievement that requires you to find a secret Gold Butterfly hidden in the level. There are plenty of Butterflies around the main area, with some yellow ones that appear Golden at first, trying to bait you out. While all these Butterflies spawn randomly, the golden one is always in the same place.
After getting Spike’s net and capturing your first Monkey Bot, a bridge spawns that takes you to the main level. Here, you are expected to find a few more monkeys before taking on the main Spectre boss fight in the center statue.
After going up the bridge, immediately head behind the statue until you see a set of ladders leading up to a platform with a glass bridge. Beside these ladders are two bushes. If you hit the right one, the Golden Butterfly pops out of it and immediately starts trying to escape from you.
The Golden Butterfly starts to circle the statue’s outer perimeter—so it won’t zigzag away or go in any other direction. It’s faster than you, so try and cut it off. I found this very difficult, and even jumping and mashing RT to try and get it in the net proved difficult. It was only by sheer luck that I managed to clip it and secure the achievement.
Capturing it and other butterflies in the area also nets you some important coins to use in the Gacha game, where your Mothership is. This gains you progress toward one of the grittier trophies that requires you to earn 150 items from the Gacha machine, which requires 15,000 total coins.
