Astro Bot – All collectibles walkthrough for Free Big Brother!

The giant white robot, Big Brother, returns in Astro Bot to help out the titular hero, or rather, Astro is here to help it out. The Free Big Brother! level has a lot of terrain to explore and is jam-packed with Bots, Puzzle Pieces, and a secret exit to find—some of which are a nightmare to track down.

Many of Astro Bot‘s levels are sprawling environments riddled with multiple trails of twists and turns. Free Big Brother! is one of the few levels foregoing the typical long linear level structure in favor of an open affair. You can explore much of the level from the get-go, but it dynamically changes once you free your sizable pal.

I’m not sure if Big Brother is quite literally Astro’s brother, but it’s nice to see the character return from Astro Bot Rescue Mission. The large figure is only part of the problem, though, as many of the level’s collectibles are hidden away—but our guide is here to help you find them all.

All Free Big Brother! Bot locations in Astro Bot

Do your best to free Big Brother as soon as you can because several collectibles require Big Brother to be freed of his restraints. To do this, find all the purple padlocks and destroy them. Once you do so, Big Brother stands up, and the level’s theme changes to a sunny and happy one.

Bot location one

You should see the first Bot being attacked by a green monster in the middle of the level. Use the elevated platform nearby to jump up to the area, eliminate the enemy, and save Bot number one.

Bot location two

Opposite Bot one’s location is a bird flying around in circles with a rope dangling below. Walk to the bird, jump onto the rope, and turn around to jump across to a raised, circular island with a spiky yellow enemy on it. Jump to the next circular island after it, and finally onto the final bigger location with a coin box. Several enemies await, along with the second Bot you need to reach and save.

Bot location three

With Bot two in the bag, head back to the bird with the rope, and this time, jump to the ledge in front with its glass wall. Smash through the wall, and enemies await you on a glass floor that Astro can put holes in using his boot jets. Uncover the right-hand side of the floor and reveal a blue jump platform (not the one on the floor); use this to reach the ledge shown in our “Third Bot” screenshot above. Break the wall and enter the secret area. You need to use more hidden jump pads in this section to reach the third Bot.

Bot location four

Remember, Big Brother needs freeing, and once he is, rocks appear out at sea, leading you right to him. But instead of crossing them, you should head to the slightly indented part of the beach with a glowing cross. Use Astro’s charge spin attack to burrow and remove the sand, revealing another Bot hiding at the bottom.

Bot location five

You now need to ascend Big Brother, and the fifth Bot is in plain sight, hanging off the large robot’s neck. Simply jump up and bat them down to make it a cool five Bots rescued.

Bot location six

Head forward and go down Big Brother’s right arm—taking out the next enemies on the way. Climb up (past the checkpoint), pull the wires, use the jump pads, and walk around until you reach another glass floor. Instead of skipping past it, again, burn a solid hole through the floor, and (as shown in the “Sixth Bot” image) the Bot is sneakily hiding on a platform underneath.

Bot location seven

The seventh Bot makes things nice and easy as it’s at the very end of the level, standing in plain sight in a clamshell, asking to be kicked in its keister.

All Free Big Brother! Puzzle Piece locations in Astro Bot

Puzzle Piece location one

From Bot location number two, jump down from the platform, and the first Puzzle Piece is in a small cave-like opening underneath.

We’re using Bot location three as our reference point this time. While you need to burn away at the glass to find a hidden jump pad to the area high up, you also need to fall to the sand at the bottom. Pull on the exposed wires, and the second Puzzle Piece emerges from the ground to collect.

With Big Brother lapping up the glorious sunny rays, the third Puzzle Piece suddenly appears on top of the hut shown above. Climb up on top of it to complete Free Big Brother’s main collectibles!

Free Big Brother! secret exit location in Astro Bot

The Free Big Brother! secret exit is easily missable due to the changing landscape of the level. Once more, you need to secure Big Brother’s freedom, making the area in the “secret exit location” picture above appear. To open the wall, have the guitar enemy zap both platforms—without getting hit—and once both are triggered, the secret wall moves, allowing you to use the secret exit flag.
