The Undermine was introduced into World of Warcraft with Patch 11.1, along with new Delves, quests, and the divisive D.R.I.V.E. mechanic. Undermine is a lively and colorful city, tucked away in the corner of the map and packed to the brim with chaos and corruption.
Whether you’re trying to get to Undermine for the first time or return there after completing the introductory questline, we’ve got you covered. Here’s how to get to Undermine in The War Within, including every quest you need to unlock the zone.
How to get to Undermine for the first time
You’ll need to complete a series of quests in WoW before you can travel to Undermine and set up the teleporter connection between the city and Dornogal.
To access these quests, you need to complete the main leveling campaign in TWW on at least one of your characters. If you’ve not played through this part of the expansion to the end yet, you won’t be able to access Undermine, so check out our full quest list.
The first quest to kick off the Undermine unlock process is called When Opportunity Explodes. It should pop up for you the first time you log into Patch 11.1, but if it doesn’t, find Renzik “The Shiv” at the Foundation Hall in Dornogal to pick it up.

It might look like a long chain of quests, but it took us around an hour to complete all of them and get to Undermine for the first time. Each quest offers decent rewards too, so you’ll be compensated with Valorstones, Gold, and even a new weapon.
When you reach Undermine for the first time after completing Down Undermine, look for a quest named Test Run as you begin the campaign in the new zone.
This short but sweet quest starts across the road from Slam Central Station, offered by an NPC named Rustol. It’ll let you set up a teleport connection between Dornogal and Undermine, quickly zapping you from one to the other once you stand on the electric blue teleporter.
One of the best things about this teleportation route is that you won’t need to unlock it on other characters in your Warband. If you’re leveling up multiple characters to get to Undermine in WoW, completing this early on will help to save you some time.
How to get back to Undermine
Aside from the standard option of using a Hearthstone or the Tome of Town Portal Toy to get back to Undermine, you can head straight back to the rocket drill in The Ringing Deeps to quickly travel back to the city.
You’ll also be able to access the teleporter in Dornogal if you want to hop straight back into the action in Undermine. It looks identical to the teleporter in the Goblin city, indicated with glowing lights and a wooden Goblin sign.
As there are heaps of quests and challenges to take on in Undermine for Patch 11.1, including new Delves and a striking new raid, we’d suggest setting your Hearthstone to the Incontinental Hotel to help save yourself some time.
