Like previous Team Rocket takeover events, you have a short time to grab the latest Special Research and begin working on it. Luckily for trainers, as long as you have the Special Research, you can work through it at your own pace. Giovanni will continue to have his Legendary Shadow Pokémon and you can add them to your collection. Here’s what you need to know about every step and the rewards of completing the Adventure Week: Taken Over Special Research in Pokémon Go.

Before getting the Adventure Week: Taken Over Special Research, ensure you don’t have the previous Team Rocket quest. If you’re still working on that one, you won’t be able to receive the latest one on your Pokémon Go account. You have until Aug. 12 at 11:59pm in your local time zone to finish it, and then you should receive the Adventure Week Special Research. If you miss this time frame, you won’t receive this Special Research, and it’ll prevent you from getting the Super Rocket Radar, a vital item for tracking down Giovanni.

Many steps in Adventure Week: Taken Over involve fighting against Team Rocket Grunts and their leaders, Arlo, Sierra, and Cliff. After you defeat them all, it’ll be time to challenge Giovanni. Beating him allows you to catch the Shadow Cresselia, which should be an excellent grab for any player. These are all the steps you need to work through to complete Adventure Week: Taken Over in Pokémon Go.
