Should you open Solgaleo or Lunala packs in Celestial Guardians Pokémon TCG Pocket?

Pokémon TCG Pocket Celestial Guardians is a powerful expansion set with two booster packs. Here's a breakdown of Solgaleo versus Lunala packs.

Deciding which booster pack to rip into first when a new Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion set drops can be tricky, especially if you’re trying to build a particular deck or get ready for a tournament quickly. Packs always have an exclusive list in Pocket, making it hard to collect every card.

Celestial Guardians features two punchy packs, each offering their own perks and bonuses. To help you pick, here’s a guide to whether you should open Lunala or Solgaleo, including the highlights from each pack.

While both of the Celestial Guardians booster packs do feature heavy-hitting exclusive cards, the best Pocket pack to pick straight out of the gate is Solgaleo. It offers slightly more competitive value for players to consider, along with some striking full-art exclusives.

The pack Legendary card, Solgaleo ex, is already proving to be a menace in the competitive scene thanks to its synergy with Dialga ex decks. The addition of exclusives like the Lightning-type Oricorio and the Lillie Supporter help to make this pack even more valuable.

That’s not to say that you should ignore the Lunala packs, though. There are interesting Pokémon ex cards in the pack, like Decidueye ex and Wishiwashi ex that you can use to great effect in competitive matches, and the pack Legendary card Lunala ex is powerful in its own right.

We’ve pulled some of the highlights from each booster pack in the table below, along with their corresponding rarities. It’s worth considering which decks you’re hoping to play before ripping your first pack so you can chase the necessary Pokémon ex or Supporter cards.
