One of the biggest gaming based streaming services looks to expand.

One of the largest gaming-based streaming services, Twitch.tv, continues to grow with their recent announcement of an official Twitch desktop app that will go into beta starting March 16.

This new service will provide users with the ability to completely customize their Twitch experience. Everything from what appears on your homepage to the font of your chat rooms, will be available to change through presets provided by Twitch or widgets.

What makes this app stand-out is the introduction of a video and voice call option, which is only available in the app. This could provide streamers with a hub where they can manage their streaming dashboard, as well as communicate with other streamers or fans.

To further increase the customization options of the app, Twitch is allowing others to create add-ons or widgets that everyone can download to create their own unique Twitch experience. All of the add-ons will be saved through a cloud storage system, so customizations stay across different devices.

What do you think about the introduction of a customizable desktop app for Twitch?
