In the age where celebrities have to be careful of what they may have said or tweeted before they became popular, Twitch streamers can face the same level of scrutiny, too. A clip has recently surfaced of Imane “Pokimane” Anys allegedly saying a racial slur in a former broadcast on Twitch.

Pokimane is one of the most popular female Twitch streamers. Since she started streaming a few years ago, her following has grown exponentially. Formally, Pokimane predominantly streamed League of Legends, but now she streams a variety of games, including Fortnite. Last year, Pokimane won the 10th Shorty Awards for Twitch Streamer of the Year.

Recently, a clip of Pokimane streaming League of Legends surfaced on Reddit where some believe she said a racial slur as her team pushes for the enemy Nexus. But others believe Pokimane is simply referring to one of the champions named Anivia in the game. The audio isn’t crystal clear, causing everyone to have a differing opinion on what was truly said. The old broadcast has been removed from Pokimane’s channel on Twitch, too.

Despite her popularity on Twitch, Pokimane has come under some scrutiny for the previous incident where she claimed she would copyright strike a YouTuber for using one of her tweets in their video. Pokimane received backlash from the YouTube and Twitch community for the false claim, with other celebrities like Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg and Daniel “Keemstar” Keem voicing their opinions.

Keemstar weighed in on the latest Pokimane drama, tweeting a clip of the stream yesterday. But Pokimane was quick to reply, saying that she said Anivia. At this point, it seems like the case has been closed.
