How to get the Kobold Pickaxe treasure in WoW The War Within

Every zone in WoW The War Within has a handful of treasures hidden off the beaten path. Finding them awards anything from non-combat pets and toys to useful gear, and the Kobold Pickaxe is one of the better ones.

Some players are having trouble finding the Kobold Pickaxe, though—so if you’re among them, keep reading.

In WoW The War Within, the Kobold Pickaxe is supposed to spawn at 62.57, 43.27 in the Isle of Dorn. You’re supposed to find it resting on the edge of an empty pedestal in Mourning Rise, an Earthen ruin overrun with Kobolds.

The Kobold Pickaxe’s spawn timer is shared with everyone else in the vicinity, and it disappears after you pick it up, so it’s difficult to get your hands on—especially on populated shards at populated times.

Picking it up nets you Kobold Mastermind’s “Pivel,” a rare two-handed axe with Stamina, Strength or Agility, and Versatility.

Is the Kobold Pickaxe spawn bugged in WoW The War Within?

Yes, the Kobold Pickaxe spawn appears to be bugged as of Sept 2. According to players on Wowhead, the Kobold Pickaxe isn’t appearing as it should; one user reported in the comments that the Pickaxe didn’t spawn after they camped the spawn location for two hours and changed shards.

Another player reportedly received a message from Blizzard customer support saying they’ve had “several reports of this issue and can confirm it is not working as intended” and that the devs currently “do not have a workaround or resolution.”
