This quest is by far the toughest part of navigating the palace since it involves completing quite a few complex puzzles. Here’s how to complete the Jafar’s Laboratory quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

The primary goal in Jafar’s Laboratory is to get the key to the palace gate so you can access the area Jafar is in. You have to solve a couple of puzzles to get this task done and this quest takes place in the middle of The Palace of Time. This means you have to fully complete this one before you can get back to finishing the other task. Here’s a complete breakdown of everything you need to do to complete the Jafar’s Laboratory quest.

  • Enter Jafar’s Laboratory.
  • Talk to Annoying Nuisance.
  • Feed the bird.
  • Search for where the shiny thing belongs.
  • Align the light beam to open the door.
  • Pick up the key in the chamber.
  • Use the key to unlock the gate in the throne room.

Enter Jafar’s Laboratory in Disney Dreamlight Valley

From the locked palace gate, make a left and head up the staircase. Continue left again and follow the stairs until you find yourself in Jafar’s Laboratory. You may have to clear some Swirling Sand along the way, so use your Royal Hourglass if needed.

Jafar’s Laboratory has a few puzzles, but ignore them for now and head up the stairs to Jafar’s work area.

After reaching the top of the staircase in Jafar’s work area, make a left and look for the Raven flying there. Interact with this bird to learn that its name is Annoying Nuisance and that they know where to find the key.

Although this bird knows exactly where the key is, they’re not willing to just give it away. To obtain the key you need, you have to feed them first.

Feed the bird in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The process of feeding Jafar’s Laboratory bird is essentially a whole new mini quest you have to work through that involves altering time to mix rotten and ripe ingredients. Once you have the Bird Food prepared, serve it to Annoying Nuisance.

Although this bird promised you the key, they instead grant you a “shiny thing” that can supposedly help you find it.

Head down to the ground floor in Jafar’s Laboratory back to the puzzle you bypassed earlier. Approach the empty Power Coil socket on the left wall and place the shiny thing, which is actually a Power Coil, inside. The puzzle now has power so you can get to work solving it.

Align the light beam to open the door in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Walk over to the ground puzzle piece that’s closest to the Power Coil socket and interact with it once to align the electricity flow. Then, head over to the mirror near the hourglass and interact with it twice to get it to face in the right direction.

Approach the hourglass near the right wall and interact with it to flip it so the blue sand is on top. This adjusts the time of day and unlocks the door blocking your access to the key. Head inside the small room to your right and grab the key from the pedestal.

Use the key to unlock the gate in the throne room in Disney Dreamlight Valley

With the key in your inventory, head back to the main room in the palace where the locked gate is. Interact with the gate to use the key and officially finish the Jafar’s Laboratory quest as you now have access to the throne room he’s in and can resume working on The Palace of Time.

Unfortunately for players, Jafar spots you before you can reach him and sends you away in The Now and Then quest. Before you can return to Eternity Isle to stop and unlock Jafar as a valley villager, you have to recover all the Black and White Island items.
