Apex Legends Space Hunt event brings new universal Heirloom, LTM

Don't get knocked out first.

A new mode, Heirloom, and a bunch of skins are coming to Apex Legends in its latest collection event, Space Hunt.

The Serpent’s Sting sword is a universal Heirloom that will be available in Space Hunt event packs, which contain one event item and two standard items, all with duplicate protection. And the Heirloom looks pretty awesome, with the end of the blade extending out into a sort of hook or tooth to rip enemies up with. Respawn also says you’ll be able to unlock additional customizations for the Heirloom, including a Kill Counter, which could be the first of its kind in Apex.

The new mode, meanwhile, is called Knockout. It’s a 60-player, 20-squad battle royale mode with objectives to play, offering yet another fun take on the tried-and-true BR genre with some twists to the gameplay formula.

“In this intense, objective-based competition, squads must capture zones and collect EVO to rack up points,” Respawn Entertainment said. “The five lowest-scoring squads are eliminated after each round, so every point counts. Enjoy infinite respawns until the high-stakes Sudden Death finale. After three rounds, the final five squads are redeployed for an all-out battle where only one squad will emerge victorious. Will your squad be the last one standing?”

Space Hunt also offers a reward shop where players can spend Bounty Bucks that are earned via challenges. Apex players can choose their own rewards here, and shop offerings will rotate halfway through the event on Sept. 28.

There are several space bounty hunter-themed skins to unlock for all sorts of legends, including Ash, Gibraltar, Bangalore, Wraith, and Octane, along with a number of awesome-looking weapon skins to boot.

A new update will come alongside the event, changing the Gold weapon rotation to include the Mozambique Akimbo, P2020 Akimbo, EVA-8, VK-47 Flatline, and G7 Scout, along with several balance changes, and a new map rotation. You can see the full patch notes on the Apex website.

Space Hunt kicks off in Apex next week on Sept. 17 and will run until Oct. 8.
