All Sparrow abilities in Apex Legends

A new threat in the sky.

Times are changing, metas are shifting, and Apex Legends is bringing a new legend with season 25, Prodigy. His arrival on May 6 means new movement tech, weapon features, and a guaranteed rumble in the current meta.

We haven’t seen a new legend since Alter in season 21, Upheaval. It has been three seasons since a new contender entered the ring, and with the newest map, E-District shifting in and out of the map rotation, it’s safe to assume players wanted something fresh in Apex Legends. Thankfully, Respawn made the active decision to alter legend kits quite drastically and increase the number of updates, forcefully shifting the meta every split.

The arrival of Sparrow couldn’t come at a better time as it’s been one year since Alter was added to Apex. But what can we expect from this Bocek-wielder? Here are all Sparrow’s abilities you need to know about before heading into Prodigy on May 6.

A long-range menace, Sparrow is shown in all marketing as a Bocek user. His signature weapon shouldn’t mean much when it comes to his kit, seeing as Mirage’s weapon is a Wingman, and Lifeline has the Mozambique. But Sparrow will get additional arrows as an incentive to run the bow.

The official Apex Legends channel has dropped a sneak peek into what we can expect to see from Sparrow mains. He will be automatically unlocked from May 6 to 20, giving you more than enough time to try this new legend out for yourself. But what do we know about his kit so far?

Double Jump (Passive)

His passive Double Jump is definitely one to watch. The recent shift for movement legends without the need for them to be under the Skirmisher Class is a fantastic change for Apex. We already saw how this massively boosted Ash’s pick-rate, but it also overall made her a much stronger, more viable contender in pubs and ranked matches. Sparrow should have a similar impact, being able to double jump to quickly gain height advantage, avoiding that frustrating mantle animation. You can seamlessly shift direction mid-jump, but at a slower, more fluid rate than Ash’s dash. This will naturally make him harder to hit and perhaps quickly become a hard counter against Ash players.

Wall Launch

Sparrow can also jump while climbing, allowing him to reach the top of two-story buildings incredibly fast, putting him up there with Pathfinder and Valkyrie. Much like the Double Jump, this will make Sparrow an excellent mobility character as he can gain the upper hand against non-movement legends and quickly extend in a fight after knocking an enemy or dealing 100 damage with a sky nade to an enemy team on a rooftop.

Tracker Dart (Tactical)

Interesting, the Tracker Dart tells us everything we need to know about the kind of playmaker he’ll be. A Recon legend, the Tracker Dart will behave similarly to the Assault Class highlight. It likely will only track one player at a time, where (we hope) an evo upgrade will increase the tracking amount. The dart can attach to surfaces like Ash’s Snare and Ballistic’s Whistle. Anyone caught running through it will be highlighted with a rectangle border around their body. The Tracker has to see the enemy in order to track them.

When used, the Tracker Dart becomes stationary, meaning it’ll only scan opponents in close proximity. It’ll likely be best used inside buildings or against enemies behind cover (to determine how many enemies are still standing). This can provide key information while simultaneously helping you when you’re popping a bat or watching enemy movements from behind cover.

Stinger Bolt (Ultimate)

The Stinger Bolt looks like a combination of Wattson’s Fence and Ash’s Snare. It’s capable of latching onto multiple enemies at once, but only within its set radius. Like the Tracker Dart, the Bolt cannot be repositioned once launch, having it behave more like a mine. Any enemy caught within its radius will get blasted, slowed, and take damage. Enemies must treat this like getting caught in a Conduit’s Energy Barricade.

Sparrow upgrades, listed

  • Extra Traps (Level 2): Gain an additional Tac charge and plus two traps.
  • Hunt Target (Level 2): Get a speed boost when running towards a marked enemy.
  • Alternate Mode (Level 3): Stringer Bolt (ult) has three charges that fire fewer pulses in a smaller radius.
  • Life Siphon (Level 3): Health and shields are recovered if enemies are damage by his Stinger Bolt.
