The Dalaran Sewer Turtle is one of the battle pets you can get in World of Warcraft: The War Within. The problem with getting this pet is it simply takes time to get the resources and for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle-inspired family to be reunited.
Once you’ve met all the requirements, you can get the Sewer Turtle whistle and your very own Dalaran Sewer Turtle. Here’s what you have to do.
How to get the Dalaran Sewer Turtle in WoW: The War Within
To get the Dalaran Sewer Turtle in WoW The War Within, you must first help heal the Dalaran Sewer rat and wait for the Sewer Rat and Sewer Turtle to reunite with their family in Dornogal. Then, you can use the Sewer Rat Whistle gifted to you by the blue turtle to get your own Dalaran Sewer Turtle.
While it sounds easy enough, there are quite a few objectives you must complete to get the Dalaran Sewer Turtle:
- Find the Dalaran Sewer Rat and the Dalaran Sewer Turtle.
- Speak to the Sewer Turtle.
- Fish for five Northern Pike.
- Give the five Northern Pikes to the Sewer Turtle.
- Wait for the Sewer Rat to heal.
- Speak to the Sewer Turtle.
- Fish for one Goldengill Trout.
- Give the Goldengill Trout to the Turtle.
- Let them reunite with the rest of their Sewer Turtle family.
- Find the family in Dornogal.
- Speak to the blue Sewer Turtle.
- Open the bag and take the items.
- Use the Sewer Rat whistle.
As soon as you use the whistle, you’ll have the Sewer Rat in your Pet Journal. Because there are so many tricky steps, I’ll break them down below.
Where to find the Dalaran Sewer Rat and the Dalaran Sewer Turtle
You can find the Dalaran Sewer Rat and the Dalaran Sewer Turtle next to a tree on a small hill south of Freywold Village, roughly at the coordinates 41 and 74.
How to get Khaz Algar fishing and a fishing rod: Fishing trainer and supplier locations
To fish for the Northern Pike and the Goldengill Trout in Khaz Algar, you must learn Khaz Algar fishing. There is a fishing trainer in Dornogal, Drokar, to the East of the Foundation Hall, roughly at the coordinates 50.6 and 27.4. By speaking to Drokar, you can purchase fishing for 10 Bronze and Khaz Algar fishing for 95 gold.
Right next to the fishing trainer is the fishing supplies merchant, Hinodin. You can purchase a fishing rod from them, and the basic one costs one Bronze. I also highly recommend purchasing the Angler’s Guide from Hinodin because any fishing spots will show up on your mini-map as little golden fish, and when you hover over this icon, it will tell you what that fishing pool is. This makes fishing for specific kinds of fish, like the Northern Pike and Goldengill Trout, much easier and it saves you a boatload of time.
Once you equip your fishing rod to your ability bar from the profession tab, you’re ready to go out and start farming for fish. If fishing isn’t for you, you can always try to buy the fish from the Auction House.
Where to fish for Northern Pike and Goldengill Trout
To help the Dalaran Sewer Rat recover, you must offer it five Northern Pike fish and one Goldengill Trout. In Khaz Algar, you’ll get Northern Pikes from the Calm Surfacing Ripple pools, and Goldengill Trouts can be fished from Glimmerpools.
After scouring the map, I found the best place to fish for both pools was along the coastline east of Freywold Village. Because the fishing spots were marked on my map, I could see which pools were Calm Surfacing Ripples and which were Goldengill Trouts. To save time, I fished for both the Northern Pike and Goldengill Trout. so I wouldn’t have to come back later for the Trout.
Even if you’re fishing from the correct pools, you may not always get the fish you want. On average, I got one Northern Pike from every three Calm Surfacing Ripples and one Goldengill Trout from my fourth Glimmerpool. If you don’t get the required fish, continue searching along the coastline for the pools, and eventually, you’ll get what you need to save the Dalaran Sewer Rat.
How long do I need to wait for the Sewer Rat to recover?
Once you’ve handed over the five Northern Pikes to the Dalaran Sewer Turtle, you must wait around 30 to 60 minutes for the Sewer Rat to heal. If you’re looking to kill some time, there’s a delve nearby that you can explore, and there are a few side-quests in Freywold Village you could complete as well.
I initially thought it would take five minutes at most, so I stuck around, waiting for the rat to heal. But after 10 minutes, I decided to go and explore the area. I checked back at the 30-minute mark, and he was still down. So, I returned at around the 55-minute mark, and the rat was healed and on its feet. I’m unsure if the wait time differs for everyone, but 60 minutes should be the most you have to wait for the rat to heal.
Do I have to wait for the Dalaran Sewer Rat and Turtle to find their family?
After giving the Goldengill Trout to the Dalaran Sewer Turtle, the Turtle mentions that they want to find the rest of their family, which implies that you have to wait for them to reappear. Thankfully, there is no wait time, and you can head directly to Dornogal to find the Dalaran Sewer Rat and the Dalaran Sewer Turtles.
Where to find the Dalaran Sewer Rat and Dalaran Sewer Turtle in Dornogal
You can find the Dalaran Sewer Rat and the Dalaran Sewer Turtles north of the Stoneshaper’s Atrium in Dornogal, roughly at the coordinates 58 and 30. As you get closer to them, a silver chest and star icon will appear on your map. If it weren’t for this icon, it would have taken me forever to find them.
Once you speak to the blue turtle, a bag will appear on the ground that you can open, and inside is the Dalaran Sewer Turtle whistle you can use to summon your very own Dalaran Sewer Turtle.
Getting the Dalaran Sewer Turtle is a little tedious as you must learn fishing, Khaz Algar fishing, find the fish, and do a whole lot of waiting, but it’s worth it to get this cute little turtle pet in WoW The War Within.
