How to start and complete Striking Steel quest in WoW The War Within

It's so long it even has an intermission.

Striking Steel is one of the World of Warcraft: The War Within questlines you’re going to need to complete if you’re working towards the Sojourner of Hallowfall achievement. A confusing time gate makes things a little tricky though.

Here’s how to complete the Striking Steel quest in The War Within.

How to start the Striking Steel questline in The War Within

You can start the Striking Steel questline in WoW: The War Within by speaking with Auralia Steelstrike in Mereldar at coordinates 41 and 53. This will give you the Economical Request quest, which starts the whole questline.

The Striking Steel questline is quite long; these are all 10 quests in the questline:

  1. Economical Request.
  2. A Batty Request.
  3. Does Anyone Like Wasps?
  4. Regular Fiber.
  5. Underground Economics.
  6. Spice Up Your Life.
  7. Eagle Eye, Eagle Die.
  8. Full Dress.
  9. Cooking With Style (Completing this rewards you with the Striking Steel achievement).
  10. A Home Cooked Meal (This quest rewards you with the Beledar’s Bounty recipe).

You can start the Economical Request quest by speaking with Auralia Steelstrike in the tent near the training grounds in Mereldar at coordinates 41 and 53.

Quest objectiveHow to complete
Write a recommendation letter and suggest Additional Trading Partners. Interact with the letter of recommendation behind Auralia. Choose the options you think would be best when writing a letter to Merrix. For this quest, I chose more of a formal path, but you could choose the fun options as well.

2) A Batty Request

You can also pick up the A Batty Request quest from Auralia in the tent at coordinates 41 and 53. She also has the Does Anyone Like Wasps? and Regular Fibers quests to accept at the same time, which you should do; they can all be completed in the same area.

In addition, some players have mentioned they’ve experienced issues where Auralia isn’t at the location when they need to turn in this single quest. However, she is if you accept and complete all three quests. So, it’s worth taking all three of these The War Within quests at once to avoid any issues while trying to complete them.

Quest objectiveHow to complete
Get eight Shacklefang Leafnose MeatHead to the quest area, the Fangs, on your map. Locate and slay five Shacklefang Leafnoses (these are the mobs that will have a yellow name and health bar in the quest area). Loot their bodies for the meat.

3) Does Anyone Like Wasps?

If you don’t see either The War Within quest, you’ll simply need to wait until your next daily reset before speaking with Auralia to get them.

Quest objectiveHow to complete
Gather seven Light-Bathed Lotus’ in Hallowfall.Head to the quest area—it’s the westernmost section of Hallowfall. Look for the tall yellow-flowered lotus and collect them. You’ll know they’re the right ones if they’re sparkling.

Quest objectiveHow to complete
Help the Steelstrikes cook a meal in Mereldar.Make your way to the cooking house. Head to the table to the left of General Steelstrike and interact with it to chop the vegetables. Interact with the small wedge of cheese on the ground to throw it into the cooking pot. To the right of the General, there’s a tap and a bucket. Interact with it and aim the water at the cooking pot and throw water into it. Speak with the General. Throw vegetables into the cooking pot. Throw water to stop the fire (if necessary). Repeat until you’ve cooked your dish. Interact with the cooking pot to taste it.

Quest objectiveHow to complete

Why can’t I start the Spice Up Your Life quest?

If you’ve finished the Underground Economics quest and want to start the next quest in the chain, Spice Up Your Life, you won’t be able to right away. This is because this quest is locked behind a time gate, meaning you have to wait until your next daily reset. For example, I was working through the first half of this questline at around 4pm on Monday, and was able to accept it on Tuesday around 5am (after my server’s reset time).

Initially, you would’ve had to wait one week to be able to accept this quest. However, in the Aug. 29 hotfix, the devs changed it so you’d only have to wait until your next reset. So, if you’re wondering how to complete the Striking Steel questline, this is everything you need to know, including why you can’t start it right away.
