The First Descendant dev is working on ‘large-scale updates’ among other content

The war with Vulgus is far from over.

The First Descendant is kicking off its seasonal cycle with season one, but there’s more content in the works, both big and small, including large-scale narrative updates.

According to The First Descendant producer Beomjun Lee, seasons aim to bring “individual stories of the Descendants and expand the world-building.” This includes one Descendant-specific storyline per season, like Bunny’s in pre-season and Freyna’s in season one. At the same time, to push the broader story of the game (including a final confrontation with Karel), Nexon is preparing large-scale updates.

While the story might not be the main reason to play The First Descendant despite the game having a cast of memorable characters, the plans for large-scale updates might mean we can expect to see something similar to expansions in Destiny 2 with additional content and story development.

After completing the story, the main thing to do in the game is grind for new gear and characters. Currently, there are two endgame loops in the game: Void Intercept Battles and Vulgus Strategic Outposts. Lee revealed the dev team wants to “expand the variety of loops and choices available” and provide players with opportunities to enjoy the game according to their preferred playstyles. The ETA-0 vendor coming to the game with season one is also set to play a role in these loops.

Something you can expect to see sooner, though, are more Descendant and weapon balancing changes, with adjustments to Ajax, Blair, and Jayber scheduled for the first week of season one after it launches on Aug. 29.
