How to complete Axion Investigation Mission in The First Descendant

Season 3, Episode 2 of The First Descendant added a bunch of side quests at the Data Analyst in Albion. One of the quests you can pick up is the Axion Plains Investigation Mission, which tasks you with investigating multiple areas in the Axion Plains

Here’s a complete walkthrough of the Axion Plains Investigation Mission quest in The First Descendant.

Axion Investigation Mission locations in The First Descendant

After picking up the quest at the Data Analyst in Albion, you can interact with him again and ask about the outpost investigation. He’ll give you general descriptions of the areas to investigate that should narrow down the search.

Here are the areas you need to investigate:

• Area near the Tactical Transport Vehicles at the Tactical Camp.
• Vicinity for key facilities such as warehouses.
• Structures near the Mobile Energy Monitoring Point 1.

All locations are around the outpost at the main waypoint in Axion Fields. For this specific quest, Ecive navigation is disabled, so you need to find all investigation points yourself. You can use the hints above to try and find them yourself, or use the images below to save you some time.

Area near the Tactical Transport Vehicles at the Tactical Camp

The first location is inside the transport vehicle, next to the Supermassive Receptor dungeon beacon, right at the outpost. As you get close to it, you’ll see the Investigation Point tag on the screen and the prompt to interact with it. It might be difficult to see due to white text, but it’s right at the ramp in the back of the vehicle.

Vicinity for key facilities such as warehouses

The next location is at the warehouse entrance, to the right of the Weapon Workbench and Storage Box on the Axion Plains outpost. You need to walk right up to the gate with yellow markings for the prompt to appear.

Structures near the Mobile Energy Monitoring Point 1

Mobile Energy Monitoring Point is the race activity in Axion Plains. The first race is right at the outpost. As you walk up to the terminal, it’ll show the activity details, but you don’t have to play it; simply hit investigate.

Return to the Data Analyst, and he’ll give you the next quest, called Lost Recon Team, with three more locations to investigate.

Lost Recon Team locations in The First Descendant

This quest is very similar to the Axion Investigation Mission, except now you’re looking for data pads around the Wall Crasher arena in the middle of Axion Plains.

Here are the areas you need to investigate:

• West of the Colossus Guided Capture Facility. Structures near the Mobile Monitoring Point.
• East of the Colossus Guided Capture Facility. Beneath the Bridge Piers.
• South of the Colossus Guided Capture Facility. Near the Drainage Facility.

West of the Colossus Guided Capture Facility

The first data pad is south of the Axion Plains Tactical Mobility Teleporter No. 1, on the west side of the arena. Go south, and right before the large ramp with the main road, there’s a data pad on the ground.

East of the Colossus Guided Capture Facility

The second data pad is on the exact opposite side of the Wall Crasher arena. On the eastern road that leads inside the facility, there’s a bridge, and on the far east side under the bridge, there’s another data pad to investigate.

South of the Colossus Guided Capture Facility

The final data pad is a little bit north of the Axion Plains Tactical Mobility Teleporter No. 3, on the south side of the arena. Walk towards the arena from the waypoint, and on the right, there’s a drain pipe with a data pad.

Infrastructure Investigation locations in The First Descendant

Return to the Data Analyst, and he’ll give you one last quest, tasking you to investigate two bridge piers. Data Analyst doesn’t offer many clues for investigation points this time, but there are only two bridges that suit this quest.

South Bridge Pier

The first investigation point is on top of the ruined bridge next to the main outpost. Look for the prompt near the cracks on top of the bridge. It can be tough to find because the radius at which the prompt appears is tiny, but walk around, and you’ll find it.

West Bridge Pier

The other point is at the bridge on the west side, southwest of the First Crater mission. You can’t reach the pier itself, but there are unfinished support pillars. The investigation point is on the right side of the third pillar.

Return to the Data Analyst to finish this chain of quests and unlock multiple record entries in the Journal.
