The First Descendant has been struggling to shape a core gameplay loop for the past year, which is why 2026 will be an important year for the game when developers overhaul multiple systems to streamline the game, add more variety, and introduce more endgame content.
Here’s everything you can expect to see in The First Descendant throughout the first half of 2026 as revealed during the developer livestream on Dec. 2.

Everything coming to The First Descendant in 2026

The first half of 2026 is focused on reorganizing the game’s core loop, including player motivation, farming, and buildcrafting, to then ultimately challenge endgame content. To fulfill this goal, the roadmap outlines multiple overhauls, new ways to farm Gold, and a new endgame mode.
Season 3 Episode 2 (January 2026)
Here’s everything coming to The First Descendant in January 2026:
- Breach Tracking Field
- Enzo’s monthly balance
- Weapon improvements
In Season 3 Episode 2, there’s a new Breach Tracking Field activity/content designed to farm Gold alongside other materials, such as Superconductive Cooling Units, used to readjust Ancestor Modules. According to the developer, it’s structured to randomly select fields and missions, making it less repetitive.
There’s also the monthly balancing update for Enzo, which should follow a similar format as Hailey’s and Ajax’s reworks, with general buffs and potentially new Transcendent Modules.
Season 3 Episode 3 (February 2026)
Here’s everything coming to The First Descendant in February 2026:
- Onlaught (Beta)
- New Descendant: Dia
- Operation Directive system
- Arche Tuning (Mutant Cell system) renewal
- Legion Lab dungeon
- Undersea Base dungeon
- Research time boosting event
- Descendant mission dashboard
- Stat info display improvements
- Second boost pass
- New weapons and Modules
- Weapon and Descendant improvements
- Void Abyss monthly rotation
Season 3 Episodes 3 and 4 feature multiple major overhauls. Some of them include an updated stats screen to see how all the different progression systems (External Components, Arche Tuning, etc.) affect overall damage, rotating rewards for core activities, Mutant Cell Boxes, and more.
One of the core new additions in Season 3 Episode 3 is the endgame mode, Onslaught. In Onslaught, you will face progressively stronger enemies across multiple difficulty tiers. Throughout the run, you can use accumulated resources to deploy turrets or buffs, which sounds fairly similar to Onslaught from Destiny 2. With the launch of Episode 3, Onslaught will be in the Beta state, allowing for further refinements and updates before the official release in Episode 4.
Throughout the first half of 2026, the developer slowed down the release cadence of new characters, but you can still look forward to Dia becoming playable in February. There’s also Ultimate Esiemo scheduled to release in Episode 4 and Ultimate Hailey in Season 4.
Season 3 Episode 4 (May 2026)
Here’s everything coming to The First Descendant in May 2026:
- Onslaught (official release)
- Ultimate Esiemo
- Farming loop renewal
- Hard mode Void Intercept Battle renewal
- New Void Vessel dungeon
- Optimization setting options
- New weapons and Modules
- Weapon and Descendant improvements
- Void Abyss monthly rotation
Finally, in Episode 4, Void Intercept Battles on Hard difficulty will undergo an overhaul, as right now their only purpose is to farm External Components and occasionally Transcendent Modules. There will also be new endgame Void Intercept Battle content featuring multiple difficulty tiers.
Season 4 Episode 1 (Summer 2026)
Here’s everything coming to The First Descendant in Summer 2026:
- Karel’s Final Battle mega dungeon
- New dungeon system
- Transcendent weapons
- New Descendant
- Ultimate Hailey
- Main story overhaul
While it may be too early to talk about Season 4, scheduled for Summer 2026, the developer revealed it will tell the story of our final battle with Karel, taking place in the mega dungeon, with larger-scale combat and visuals. By this season, the weapon system will also receive an overhaul. New Transcendent weapons will offer different progression methods compared to the existing Ultimate weapons.
