The best moveset for Cinderace in Pokémon Go

What moves should you teach Cinderace in Pokémon Go?

The Galar region is in full force in Pokémon Go, with many Pokémon from Sword and Shield making their way over. As one of the three starter choices, Cinderace is here, and you’ll want to teach it the best moveset to ensure it can become an strong asset.

When picking out the attacks for any Pokémon in Pokémon Go, these choices are critical. You have far fewer options from the traditional games, and they can make or break a Pokémon. As a starter Pokémon from Galar, Cinderace could become a useful member of your Go team. We’ll show you the best moveset to give Cinderace.

There are only a handful of attacks Cinderace can learn in Pokémon Go. The best moves to teach Cinderace are the fast attack Ember and the charged moves Flame Charge and Focus Blast. As only a Fire-type, Cinderace is weak against Ground, Rock, and Water-type moves.

Considering Cinderace’s fast move choices, you don’t have many options. Beyond Ember, the other option is Tackle, a Normal-type attack. Pokémon rarely use a move like Tackle in the mobile game, but it does provide a good amount of energy for a Pokémon’s charged attacks. Ember vprovides the same energy, plus Cinderace receives an attack boost from using Ember because it’s a Fire-type, making Ember the best choice.

Now, for Cinderace’s charged moves, where a few more options are available. However, there are not too many. With Cinderace’s initial debut, expect more charged moves with a Community Day in the future, but for now, these are all the charged moves Cinderace can learn in Pokémon Go:

  • Flamethrower (Fire-type)
  • Flame Charge (Fire-type)
  • Focus Blast (Fighting-type)

We only have three charged move choices for Cinderace. Of those three, Flame Charge and Focus Blast are the best choices. Flamethrower is a decent move that only requires 55 energy for 90 damage, but Focus Blast does 150 damage for 75 energy, and Flame Charge does 65 damage for 50 energy. Plus, Flame Charge gives the user an attack bonus every time. You could swap out Focus Blast for Flamethrower, but that would limit Cinderace’s overall moveset, making it exclusively a Fire-type Pokémon. I’d recommend against this in Pokémon Go.

Is Cinderace good in Pokémon Go?

Cinderace won’t make a huge splash when it arrives in Pokémon Go. It’s limited by being only a Fire-type Pokémon and has relatively low defense. However, it does have a high amount of attack, which could prove useful with an expanded moveset. We can expect additional attacks to go to Cinderace’s move pool as Niantic continues to tweak this Pokémon.

You’ll want to use Cinderace against Team Rocket and in PvE raids rather than taking it to the Battle League. It won’t be the best when it first arrives, but it’ll be decent, with the potential to be a potent attacker in Pokémon Go as it learns moves.
