Path of Exile 2 is coming soon after a 10-year wait

Return to Wraeclast.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a decade since Grinding Gears’ Path of Exile, especially since the game has been actively supported all that time. Indeed, its sequel was originally announced as a large update, and has since taken on a life—and an agonizing wait—of its own.

No longer, however. As part of Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live event, players were teased with a tantalizing cinematic trailer showing off a glimpse of Path of Exile 2‘s big bad. It’d be your standard teaser trailer in all respects if not for a bombshell announcement right at the end: Path of Exile 2 will be holding an early access period, meaning you can dive right back into monster-slaying as early as Nov. 15 of this year.

There’s still no official release date, but if nothing else, this beta period will serve to whet players’ appetites. This early access period was actually supposed to launch earlier this year, but was crushingly pushed back for further polish.

While no details beyond that release date have been put out for Path of Exile 2‘s early access, it will most likely be comparable to that aforementioned beta. In that case, it’ll be closed registration, so keep an eye on Path of Exile‘s website for official signups. Additionally, it’ll launch from the same client as the original game, carry over all of your microtransactions, and most likely allow you to play through a chunk of the promised six-act campaign.

With Path of Exile 2 looking to be both more expansive and more accessible than the original, November can’t come fast enough. If nothing else, the first game is still there to tide you over.
