Philadelphia Fusion tank player Su-min “Sado” Kim was suspended from playing in the Overwatch League on Nov. 29, and the South Korean player has since issued an apology.
Sado is prohibited from playing in the Overwatch League’s preseason exhibition matches and the first 30 matches of the regular season. Once the 30 game suspension is up in May, he can resume his position on Philadelphia Fusion.
“I am deeply sorry for the embarrassment I have brought to Blizzard, the Overwatch League, the Fusion, and my team members through my boosting,” Sado wrote. “I want to start this letter by thanking you for allowing me to be a part of the Overwatch League despite my past mistakes. I am not writing to deny the allegations of my boosting, but instead I hope to provide some context for why I made the mistakes that I did, and explain how I plan to make up for those mistakes moving forward.”

Sado wrote that he dropped out of high school and needed money to support his family, which led the player to take money in exchange for boosting other players’ Overwatch accounts. Boosting is when a high-skilled player takes over a lower-skilled players’ account to rise up the rankings.
He didn’t realize the impact of his actions at the time, but deeply regrets them now, he wrote. His life has changed since being signed by Philadelphia Fusion—and he’s changed, too.
“I promise to you and my team that I will not waste this amazing opportunity,” Sado wrote. “When I told my parents about my contract with the Fusion they told me how lucky I was to have the chance to play professionally despite my past misdeeds. My mother said this was the first job that really motivated me and would make me happy—so no matter what challenges I faced because of my past I should persevere and not give up my dream of being a pro player.”
Sado confirmed that the Philadelphia Fusion will give him a second chance to play with the team following his 30 match suspension.
Overwatch League’s preseason exhibition matches begin Dec. 6.
