Two Overwatch heroes will be buffed in response to the game’s newest hero Brigitte, lead Overwatch designer Geoff Goodman said.

In a Q&A on the Overwatch forum Goodman revealed that Mei and Reaper are likely to buffed in a upcoming PTR patch, “hopefully” releasing sometime this week. Goodman’s answer was in response to an Overwatch player asking about the current meta and how it may change with Brigitte’s release.

“We’re always trying to get ahead of the meta and trying to predict what shifts are likely to take place,” Goodman wrote. “In this case, we’re seeing some potential for a big tank meta on the horizon, especially with Moira just recently being released and how good she is at healing multiple tanks.”

With the addition of Brigitte, Goodman believes a tank-heavy meta could be coming. That makes Blizzard hesitant to buff heroes like Roadhog, Zarya, and Ana until the team is able to gauge “how the game is shifting.”

Goodman wrote that the tank meta that arose in the past was really frustrating for players, even more so than the dive meta. Blizzard is keeping an eye on the way things shake out to prevent a stagnant meta, and instead encourage a wide variety of hero use. As for the Mei and Reaper buffs themselves, Goodman didn’t expand on what form they will take.
