Here’s the best news: The free weekend is during the Overwatch Anniversary event, which is bringing back all of Overwatch’s seasonal cosmetic items and many of the past brawls.

If you’re one of the few people still yet to experience Overwatch, there’s no better time than during this event. It will run from May 22 to June 11, but the free weekend kicks off on May 25 and continues through May 28.

All of Overwatch’s 27 heroes and 18 maps will be available for free weekend players, as well as play in Quick Play, the Arcade, and custom games—Competitive Play is never included in free weekend events. Any progress made during the free weekend will be transferred over should you decide to purchase the game, as long as you’re using the same Blizzard, Xbox Live, or Sony Entertainment account that you initially played on.

PlayStation 4 players without a PS Plus account will still be able to join Overwatch for free, but will need to subscribe to PS Plus to play after May 28. Xbox Live players will need an Xbox Live Gold membership to join in. The free period will begin exactly at 1pm CT on May 25.

Overwatch is getting a ton of new cosmetics with the second annual Anniversary event, as well as a new Deathmatch map, Petra. Competitive Deathmatch will also become available during the event, but free weekend players won’t be able to participate.
