What is Overwatch 2 Stadium?

Stadium is a multi-round, competitive mode where two teams of five clash in dramatic arenas. But this isn’t your usual push-the-payload match. Stadium throws in hero upgrades, item builds, and power-altering modifiers that let you customize your chosen hero across the course of each match.
Yes, you’ll still pick from a one Tank, two DPS, two Support team comp, but the twist is how your hero evolves as the match progresses. Each round gives you a chance to grab new Powers for free and buy Items with Stadium Cash. These will change how your abilities work and how your hero plays. Once you equip a power, it’s permanent, so choose wisely.
How Stadium matches work
You’ll start each match with 3,500 Stadium Cash, earning more based on your performance. Better plays = more currency. There’s also a clever bounty system to reward teams that can take down high-performing enemies. Stadium Cash is your ticket to upgrading your gear in the Armory, where you can equip up to six Items at a time, with rarities ranging from Common to Epic. You can sell old Items for full value if you want to switch up your strategy mid-match.
If that sounds overwhelming at first, don’t worry. Each OW hero comes with Example Builds to guide you. These suggestions help you make smart upgrade choices as you experiment.
Game modes and maps

Stadium features nine different maps, each with familiar objectives but new twists. Control plays faster, Push maps are tighter and quicker, and Clash plays out as a tug-of-war across three points. Some maps are brand-new, others are reinvented versions of classics.
To help you stay aware in the chaos (think lava flows, biotic orbs, or death rays from the sky), Stadium is played in third-person by default. This new camera gives a better sense of battlefield awareness, but if you prefer the old-school view, you can switch back to first-person in your settings.
There’s even a new UI tailored for Stadium, letting you tweak your FOV and get clearer feedback about your surroundings.
New Competitive structure and rewards

Stadium introduces its own competitive ranking system, completely separate from standard Competitive Play. Everyone begins each season in Rookie League, climbing through Divisions and Leagues by winning games. At higher levels, expect tougher matches and higher stakes.
By hitting the All-Star League, you’ll earn exclusive seasonal cosmetics, like the launch reward: the All-Stars Juno Epic skin. There are also unique Epic skins and Weapon variants tied to your performance in each role.
