You can finally get Genshin Impact on Xbox, but it’ll cost you

It's not too much, though.

Four long and arduous years since it first launched on mobile, Genshin Impact is finally coming to Xbox consoles, and it’s being packaged with a preorder pricetag.

While rumors have circulated over the past few years that Genshin would be coming to Xbox eventually, it wasn’t until a post on X (formerly Twitter) by gaming leaker Wario64 on Aug. 20 that these rumors were confirmed. As reported by VGC, this news was also announced during Gamecon’s Opening Night this week.

If you hurriedly went to preorder on Xbox, you might’ve noticed there’s no date listed on the official Genshin store page. If you navigate to the bundle option though, the release date (Nov. 20) is shown at the bottom of the page.

On top of that impending release, the same store page also confirms several other preorder goodies players will get to justify the Genshin pricetag.

The Genshin preorder bundle on Xbox includes:

  • 15 Hero’s Wit (advanced character experience material)
  • 20 Mystic Enhancement Ore (advanced weapon enhancement material)
  • 150,000 Mora (currency)
  • 20 Standard weapon experience materials
  • 15 character experience materials
  • 10 Rainbow Macarons
  • Two Wishes

It may seem unusual for a free-to-play game to land on console with a preorder price, but Microsoft seems to be taking a page from Sony’s book with the before-release bundle, which will run you up $9.99. Sony implemented this preorder strategy with Zendless Zone Zero, where players could preorder ZZZ, get a few goodies, and preload the game. However, once the title was live, it was listed as free-to-play—which we expect will happen with Genshin on Xbox when it drops in November.

As Genshin players have been waiting for this reveal for so long, it’s surprising to see how mixed the early reactions have been. Some claimed it’s “about time” and declared they’ve been “wishing for this.” Meanwhile, other players said they’d either already lost interest or are wondering when it will finally arrive on Switch instead.

My guess on that front is Genshin won’t make the big Nintendo jump until the Switch 2 drops. But hey, at least it’s finally coming to Xbox after four long years.
