Diablo 4 players have had a breakthrough in the search for a non-existent secret cow level

The Cow King is ready for the rematch.

Diablo 4 players are still hunting for the sequel’s elusive cow level, despite Blizzard suggesting there isn’t one to be found, with a breakthrough—a strange cellar full of cows—rousing spirits for the ongoing search.

The discovery, shared by YouTuber “Grandpa Joe” today, was a cellar full of cows that had to be opened with a key found after using relics in Ked Bardu.

To access this strange place you’ll need three shards (to open the locked cellar) and so far players have only been able to get the quest items that covert into shards by killing 666 cows. Once completed three times, the last cow needs to be killed in a different region because the type of item dropped is dependent on location.

After gathering the key, you should be able to unlock the cellar in question. You then need to kill one last cow, which will drop the shard needed for entry.

This breakthrough has once again revived the argument that there really is a cow level buried somewhere in Diablo 4 the devs are teasing players with.

Cow levels are a staple in the Diablo franchise, first appearing in Diablo 2 where the players could fight legions of bipedal cows wielding weapons—it was basically a scene straight out of a vivid wild nightmare. Diablo 3 also has a cow level that was added after the game’s third anniversary.

The cow levels have gained so much popularity in gaming that a Wikipedia page was made specifically for it. Blizzard notoriously denies the existence of such a level, even including a cheat in StarCraft 2 called “There Is No Cow Level.”

This breakthrough suggests players may be on the brink of finding the newest one; we just need to hope Blizzard doesn’t pull a Diablo 3 and patch the zone in on Diablo 4’s fourth anniversary.
