Episode Heresy is packed with strong trace rifles like no other Destiny 2 season. If you want an Arc trace rifle but don’t have an Exotic slot to use Lodestar, Iron Banner offers a Legendary alternative, Warlord’s Spear.
Warlord’s Spear is an Arc Adaptive Frame trace rifle (just like any other trace) from Iron Banner. While it may not be as deadly as Lodestar, it comes with a couple of good perk combinations, featuring the new Detonator Beam perk.
Here are our Warlord’s Spear god rolls in Destiny 2 for PvE and PvP.
Table of contents
What is the Warlord’s Spear god roll in Destiny 2?

Warlord’s Spear PvE god roll
- Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling
- Battery: Enhanced Battery
- Perk one: Rewind Rounds
- Perk two: Detonator Beam or Jolting Feedback
- Masterwork: Reload Speed
- Weapon Mod: Synergy
Warlord’s Spear PvP god roll
- Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
- Battery: Projection Fuse
- Perk one: Dynamic Sway Reduction
- Perk two: Target Lock
- Masterwork: Range
- Weapon Mod: Ballistics
For PvE, there are a few decent options. In the third column, you can go for either Rewind Rounds or Envious Assassin to return ammo to the magazine. Rewind Rounds is generally better because it requires hits rather than kills with other weapons.
In the fourth column, there’s the new perk Detonator Beam, which you can also find on the Unsworn trace rifle from the Sundered Doctrine dungeon. It works similarly to Kinetic Tremors, creating an explosion by dealing sustained damage. But another good perk for Arc synergy is Jolting Feedback. It jolts targets by dealing repeated damage, with the effects increasing while amplified.
If you opt for the Jolting Feedback, you might want to consider Loose Change in the third column. Loose Change increases the weapon’s reload speed, aim assist, and movement while ADS when applying a debuff—in this case, jolt.
In PvP, trace rifles often aren’t the best choice unless it’s something as broken as Lodestar. Still, there are perks like Dynamic Sway Reduction and High-impact Reserves in the third column. You can also go for the Hip-fire Grip if you prefer hip-firing when using a trace.
Target Lock is likely your one and only bet in the fourth column. You only get 29 rounds when you spawn with the trace rifle, which isn’t enough to trigger perks like Jolting Feedback or even Killing Tally. Unless you pick up additional Special ammo, you have enough for only one kill, and Target Lock makes shots more forgiving.
How to get Warlord’s Spear in Destiny 2

Warlord’s Spear is an Iron Banner weapon you can get by playing Iron Banner modes inside of Crucible. Iron Banner is only around for one week at a time, so make sure to leave some time to grind. You can also focus Iron Engrams at Saladin for additional drops.
If you’re reading this during the Heresy’s first Iron Banner week, there’s a decent roll with Envious Assassin and Detonator Beam as a rank four reward from Saladin. If you missed it, keep an eye on the curated rolls in case anything good shows up.
