Apex Legends players discover way to unlock exclusive loot without a Twitch Prime account

After Apex Legends and Twitch Prime teamed up to hand out exclusive loot, one savvy internet user discovered a way to unlock the rewards without needing a Twitch Prime account.

On Tuesday, Apex Legends and Twitch Prime partnered up to provide players with a new Legendary Pathfinder skin and five Apex packs. Users with a Twitch Prime account can gain access to the loot by simply clicking on the crown icon next to their visibility status on Twitch and choosing the “Learn More” option under the Apex Legends banner. From there, a set of instructions will guide the user in how to connect their EA account and automatically unlock the rewards.

The promotion was intended to be only for Twitch Prime members, but players began discovering ways to unlock the rewards without having to link their accounts. According to one Reddit post, all users have to do is venture into the advanced launch settings in Origin and type “+twitch_prime_linked 1” prior to starting the game to receive the exclusive loot.

It has yet to be seen whether EA will take action against those who try to cheat the system, although users can bet on this method being removed in the near future to prevent more people from reaping the benefits without a Twitch Prime membership.

Apex players with a Twitch Prime account will be able to unlock the free loot up until April 18 when the promotion is set to expire.
