EA FC 25 rival UFL, the free-to-play soccer title that received funding from superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, was due to see early access begin on Sept. 4, with a full release following just over a week later on Sept. 12—but those plans have changed.

In a post on Discord on Sept. 2, developer Strikerz Inc. stated it “wasn’t an easy decision,” but the studio decided to reschedule the release date after analyzing player “feedback and a lot of game data”—with the main issues related to “polishing and fine-tuning the features that contribute to the game’s overall feel.”

The new release date for UFL is now Dec. 5, 2024, with early access beginning on Nov. 28. Any player who pre-ordered the game for the initial early access period will retain eligibility for the rescheduled date.

With UFL now back in full development, the team provided an insight into its focus in the months ahead, including adding more modes and improving the “overall gaming experience and stability.”

Additional public tests will take place to enable players to help develop the game, and players who participate will be rewarded with exclusive in-game items and club crests. New UFL Journey and UFL Insider videos will also be posted to give insight into the game’s progress and answer player questions.

Missing the planned release will certainly be disappointing to the UFL team, particularly as it would have taken place weeks before the drop of EA FC 25. Instead, players have to wait a little while longer to see how the potential rival compares.
