The pre-game show for the Charleroi Counter-Strike minor kicked off today—and it featured one of the most excruciatingly cringe-worthy esports musical performances yet.
In an attempt to warm up the crowd, an unnamed DJ and singer entered center stage. The singer, wearing a sparkly dress and a big pair of black sunglasses, got right into the action. She enthusiastically mimed along to the song, but not before technical difficulties took over.
Her voice was distorted, the record skipped, and an echo filled the arena. The singer stopped completely in her tracks, raised her finger, and asked the DJ politely, “please, stop.” But he wouldn’t. He was in his own world.
It was difficult to watch at this point. She begged him, “stop, s’il vous plaît, stop,” but he kept going. Finally, she couldn’t bear it any longer. The embarrassment was too much for her to take and she stormed off the stage.
The memory of this will stick with the singer for years to come. It has to be one of the most cringe-worthy moments in esports history. It’s even comparable to DJ Khaled’s performance last summer at the grand finals of the Overwatch League—and that’s saying something.
