Pokémon Go has a massive variety of Pokémon players can seek out and capture during their adventure. With nearly 800 now available to find and catch within the mobile title, there are many that will elude players unless they’re equipped with the right items.

One of the best ways to track down Pokémon is by using Lure Modules. These helpful items can be used at PokéStop locations to attract different Pokémon to the location, making it easier to find and capture them. Some Lore Modules even act as the method for evolving specific Pokémon, adding extra incentive to have them at the ready in players’ inventories.

Lure Modules also get a boost during certain events like Community Days, where their effects will last for up to three hours instead of the normal 30-minute duration.

But these items are rather difficult to obtain without direct purchase in the in-game shop using PokéCoins, which players can obtain either through real-world purchase or defending Gyms. Occasionally, Lure Modules are given as rewards for players that complete seasonal research missions as well.

As of April 2023, there are five different types of Lure Modules available in Pokémon Go, as well as one special Lure Module that requires connection to a main series Pokémon title. Here is what each of these Lure Modules does and what Pokémon they help to evolve—if they can.

Lure Module

Standard Lure Modules can be purchased as well as earned as a reward for completing Special Research Tasks. When active at a PokéStop location, these will increase the rate of Pokémon appearing in the area for all players nearby. There is no specific pool as to what Pokémon can appear when using standard Lure Modules.

Glacial Lure Module

Glacial Lure Modules are one of the few types of Lure Modules that are aimed at giving players better access to Pokémon of specific types. This module will only attract Ice and Water-types. Players with Eevee can also use this module to evolve into Glaceon if they have 50 Eevee Candies to spare.

Magnetic Lure Module

Electronic Lure Modules are going to bring in an increased rate of Electric, Rock, and Steel-type Pokémon, but it also boasts another unique effect. When active, players nearby can use the Magnetic Lure Module to evolve Magneton into Manezone, Nosepass into Probopass, and Charjabug into Vikavolt—if they have the proper amount of Candies.

Mossy Lure Module

The Mossy Lure Module will increase the spawn rates of Bug, Grass, and Poison-type Pokémon in the area. Players that bring an Eevee near a PokéStop with this module attached to it will get the option to evolve it into Leafeon.

Rainy Lure Module

A mix of some of the bonuses granted by other lures, Rainy Lure Modules will provide an increased spawn rate on Water, Bug, and Electric-type Pokémon. These items also act as the only way that players are capable of evolving Sliggoo into Goodra, a powerful Dragon-type Pokémon first discovered in the Kalos region.

Golden Lure Module

As part of the first tie-in between Pokémon Go and the most recent main series titles, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Niantic added the Golden Lure Module into the mobile title. Players can get their hands on this item by sending five Postcards to either Scarlet or Violet, which they can then use to turn a PokéStop golden. Only one Golden Lure Module can be in a player’s inventory at a time.

Pokémon that have boosted appearance rates during the specific in-game Season that this item is used in will appear around Golden PokéStops. Players may also encounter wild Roaming Form Gimmighoul around these PokéStops, giving them another way to catch them and collect Gimmighoul Coins than simply using the Coin Bag.
