US and Canada national Overwatch teams introduced at E3

Both teams will compete in Blizzard's Overwatch World Cup later in the year.

Streamer Steven “ster” Serge, Team EnVyUs coach Kyle “kyky” Souder, and caster Jason Kaplan were on hand to announce their picks for the US national team at E3 on June 15. The trio paid extra attention to the way the team gelled, making sure they’d be able to withstand a long journey toward the Overwatch World Cup in November.

Being a US-based event, Team Canada’s team announcement was quickly hurried along. Chosen by Detroit Renegades Overwatch player Liam “Mangachu” Campbell, community figure Chris “HuK” Loranger, and Twitch streamer Pokelawls, the Team Canada roster is as follows.

The US and Canada national teams are in separate groups, and may not face each other in the main event. Both teams are participating in an Overwatch showmatch following the announcement event at E3: The winner earns the title of North America’s best.

In the Overwatch World Cup group stage, US will play Taiwan, Brazil, and New Zealand in Group G. Canada, on the other hand, will face Russia, Singapore, and Turkey in Group F. The group stage of the Overwatch World Cup is expected to begin later this year, leading into a final event at BlizzCon in November.
