Overwatch is going free-to-play from July 26 to 30.
And it’s a good time to join the game too—Blizzard is uploading its newest tank hero, Wrecking Ball, to the Overwatch live server just two days prior, on July 24. Each of Overwatch’s 28 heroes will be playable for the weekend. Eighteen maps will be unlocked for free play, too. Free Overwatch players will be able to participate in Quick Play, the Arcade, and custom games; the only thing off limits is the Competitive Play mode.

Any progress made during the free weekend—including toward cosmetics—will transfer over so long as they purchase the game using the same account. Achievements aren’t included, though.
PlayStation 4 players without a PS Plus account can play for free, but will need to purchase PS Plus if they want to play once the free weekend is over. Xbox Live players won’t be able to participate unless they have an Xbox Live Gold membership. PC players just need an internet connection and free Blizzard account.
Overwatch’s next free weekend begins on July 26 at 1pm CT. The weekend will end right at 1:59am CT on July 31.
