Minecraft, Tetris team up for blocktastic dungeon-crawling crossover DLC

Two of the biggest games of all time, Minecraft and Tetris, are joining forces for the former’s next DLC, with a new trailer showcasing block-filled action as players are thrown into a labyrinth of puzzles and Tetriminos. The best news—the new game mode is available right now.

Gameplay for the new DLC was on show in a July 30 trailer on YouTube. For those who are fans of both games, this DLC is sure to be a dream come true. Minecraft, the king of blocky creations with over 300 million copies sold, and Tetris, the legendary puzzle game with over 100 million copies of its own in gamers’ hands, are a perfect match for one another and the combination is sure to surprise players.

The new DLC invites you to dive into the “Matrix Dungeon,” a strategic world where classic 2D Tetris gameplay merges with Minecraft’s adventurous spirit. The dungeon-crawler kicks off with classic Tetris gameplay where you’ll face off against the Tetrimonster, who has stolen our beloved Tetriminos. Your mission: Track down these shapes and restore them to their rightful place. 

There are four game modes for you to choose from, including the endurance Marathon Mode, a Sprint Mode that pits you against the clock, and the high-speed Ultra mode. Those looking to kick back and relax can take on the classic 2D Tetris as we all know and love, just with a Minecraft twist.

As you progress, the grid of blocks transforms into a 3D dungeon layout packed with surprises, traps, and loot. Each dungeon you explore will offer unique challenges and hidden secrets. You’ll also be able to solve puzzles, scavenge for rewards, and battle colorful Tetrimonsters as you navigate through the dungeons.

Minecraft describes the DLC as a “Tetrirrific” experience. You’ll get to customize your character with iconic Tetris-themed items, including a free character creator item to show off your unique style. And yes, you can team up with friends for multiplayer fun—because what’s a dungeon crawl without some company?

The Minecraft x Tetris DLC is now live and available from the Minecraft store for 1,510 MineCoins (about $9.99 USD).
