Riot immediately plans Senna nerfs for LoL Patch 14.17 after enchanter build takes over solo queue

Piercing through the darkness and through the ranks.

Over the last patch cycle, League of Legends players in the bottom lane have been dealing with a new rising star in the support role as Senna has become an unshakable healing enchanter with an incredible win rate.

In Patch 14.17, however, Riot Games will be making immediate changes to curb her sudden success, including direct nerfs to her healing and shielding.

In Patch 14.16, Riot made changes to Senna that gave League players more flexibility with her builds, other than her regular AD support-type build. Although the original objective was successful, the player base quickly realized that Senna’s AP enchanter build was absolutely overpowered, causing Senna to jump up in win rate across multiple regions and rank distributions.

In her current state, Senna’s Q can heal her squishier allies by an absurd amount in the mid-to-late game, along with providing a massive shield with her ultimate. These were game-changing buffs that made it almost impossible to take down an enemy team in an extended teamfight, forcing the devs to make some changes to her values.

Next patch, Riot will be reducing Senna’s healing on her Q, going from 40-120 plus 80 percent ability power to 40-100 plus 60 percent ability power. She’ll also see a 20 percent reduction on the shield given by her ultimate, going from a 70 percent AP ratio to a 50 percent AP ratio.

These are straight nerfs to the abilities in question and should cut into her effectiveness as a pure healing support. Usually, Senna has remained in a unique role where she plays the support role but still aims to deal as much damage as possible as the game progresses. Many players likely hope this patch won’t completely eliminate her other build types and only make them a bit more balanced for the long haul.

League Patch 14.17 is scheduled for a full release on Aug. 28, so in the meantime, you might want to pick or ban Senna until the changes are implemented.
