We’re all sick and tired of dealing with that cute little demon called the Apex Predator in R.E.P.O. But semiwork has graced us small bots with a way to permanently counter this menace to society—the Duck Bucket.
Here’s our quick guide on how to get and use the Duck Bucket in R.E.P.O.
Where to get the Duck Bucket in R.E.P.O.

Part of R.E.P.O.‘s first big update, the Duck Bucket is an exclusive secret shop item, located above the Service Station. It won’t always be there, but you can return to the main menu and load back into your save file to change what spawns in the shop. The Duck Bucket costs either $6K or $7K. It’s on the cheaper side, matching most of the upgrades, but unlike throwables, this item will stay with you.
You won’t need the bucket for anything other than to hard-counter the Apex Predator. So keep the item handy only when you see this adorable asshole spawn in.
R.E.P.O. Duck Bucket guide
The Duck Bucket is surprisingly easy to use. All you have to do is lure the Duck over to you and have it stand in front. Then, equip the bucket and hold it over his head, lowering it down above him until he is covered.
Rotating the bucket can be a bit fiddly if it falls on its side. Unlike every other item, valuable, or weapon in the game, the Duck Bucket doesn’t harm the Duck if you drop it on top of him. We haven’t tested whether whacking him with it causes the Apex Predator to appear, so don’t haphazardly throw it on him hoping it’ll stick.
Once the Duck is trapped underneath the bucket, his movement will drastically slow down and he’ll start to wander around aimlessly. He won’t try to remove the bucket and will forget about your existence, completely removing him as a threat without having to waste ammunition or charge.
You can remove this bucket at any point (especially towards the end of a round when you need to get back to the truck). We haven’t checked whether the Duck Bucket will spawn back into the truck if you leave it behind.
What we do know, however, is that the Duck Bucket protects the Apex Predator. You cannot use weapons, explosives, or gunpowder to kill him when he’s covered. Any attempt will cause the bucket to fling off and free the Duck. Thankfully, he won’t be angry if this happens, letting you easily place the bucket back over his head.
While nothing hurts him from the outside, you and a teammate can hold a Grenade inside the bucket as you cover the Duck. Holding onto the nade, you pull the pin, killing the Apex Predator in this contained explosive.
