Can you use a controller in Escape from Duckov?

One way or the other.

If you’re wondering whether you can use a controller in Escape from Duckov, here’s everything you need to know.

Escape from Duckov is a new top-down, single-player PvE extraction shooter released in October 2025. The game parodies Escape from Tarkov mechanics, featuring a lighthearted twist involving armed ducks scavenging for loot, battling hostile enemies, and completing missions on procedurally generated maps.

Unlike many extraction shooters, such as Arena Breakout Infinite or EFT, Duckov solely focuses on offline play without PvP. With a more casual approach than other titles, the urge to use a controller is natural, and here’s everything you need to know about that.

Does Escape from Duckov have controller support?

You cannot use a controller in Escape from Duckov. The game currently supports only keyboard and mouse input for gameplay on PC, and the developers have not implemented native controller functionality yet.

All menus, quests, and gameplay actions require keyboard and mouse inputs, which means gamepads do not natively work out of the box, even on platforms like Steam Deck or other handheld PCs. Since the game has popped off on Steam, the devs might be working on controller adaptation solutions, but there has been no official announcement yet.

Is there a workaround?

You may tweak your Steam Deck’s control schemes to mimic a keyboard and mouse in Escape from Duckov. Although it will be somewhat functional for basic movement and combat, it will fall short when interacting with menus or performing advanced gameplay tasks.

You may also consider experimenting with the DS4Windows software on your PC. Alternatively, you can check this Steam Workshop solution for partial support for controllers. This Steam mod will become obsolete when the game gets official controller support. Remember, the controller input will only be active when you’re in the game with the character, not in the main or pause menu.
