Non-violence could be the way.

The Pacifist challenge in Megabonk is one of the toughest trials you can take on. It requires you to defeat a boss without using any weapons.

To begin your Pacifist Challenge in Megabonk, you’ll need to choose the right character: one whose passive abilities can indirectly deal damage without relying on weapons, or just have enough defensive capabilities to sustain the damage from the waves. While you could opt for a traditional thorns or tank build with multiple characters, many other players and I have had success with the character called Amog, whose poison is great for indirect damage.

His passive ability, Plague, makes sure that poisoned enemies explode on death, which spreads the poison among nearby enemies. This is a fantastic way to deal damage and deal with massive swarms of enemies. Here are some items to make the poison build with Amog.

ItemDescriptionWhy
Moldy Cheese+40 percent chance to poison enemies on hit.Poison spreads randomly on enemies near you, helping with your passive.
Moldy GlovesCreate a moldy poison cloud when hitting enemies.Enemies that get hit with poison also get more poison around them with this.
Cursed Doll Curse an enemy, dealing 30 percent of their Max HP every second. Extra damage source in addition to poison, helps in taking down big targets.
Gym Sauce Increases damage by +10 percent.More damage output.
BeaconCharging a charge shrine will turn it into a healing zone. Also spawns two or more extra shrines for future stages.Very helpful in the early to mid-game to heal small damage from enemies.
Gas Mask Gain armor and lifesteal for every enemy infected with poison. Sustainability, which scales with your poison, making to more immune to damage.
Toxic BarrelRelease toxic waste upon taking damage, poisoning all nearby enemies.Great option to deal with big swarms, as it makes them disappear very quickly. Also great for taking down bosses near the endgame.
MirrorReflect any incoming damage back to the attacker and gain a short invulnerability. If you take damage from a big boss, it gives the damage back to the enemy while making you invulnerable, which is good for relocating.
Overpowered Lamp+1 chance to proc on hit effects. It stacks poison, making it easier to take down bigger targets.
Soul Harvester Killing an enemy summons two homing souls. Each kill will not only explode, but it’ll also have souls to destroy the enemies near you.

Apart from the items, there are a few useful Tombs that you can add to your build, which give you more damage and add a little bit of sustain to your build to take some damage. This buys you crucial time to put more poison damage on the enemies.

TombDescriptionWhy
Damage Tome Increases your damage output.Makes poison deal for more damage.
Size TomeIncreases your height to make bigger attacks and explosions. This directly synergises with the passive and increases your crowd control.
Shield TomeGives you a shield that soaks some damage. This is amazing for taking some damage in the early game near charge shrines when the poison damage isn’t at the highest level.

It’s very common not to get the preferred items and tombs in Megabonk, so if you don’t see the options to get these items or tombs, consider pressing R to reset the run and try again. If you start getting the poison and sustain items early, you will scale just in time to defeat the boss and finish the Pacifist challenge. Do not raise your difficulty, spawn elite enemies, or select boss shrines that increase the number of bosses that spawn, because it’ll make it harder to finish the challenge.
