How to pop Golden Bloons in BTD6

Possibly the toughest achievement in BTD6.

The Golden Bloon is a special type of Bloon that has made recurring appearances in the history of Bloons Tower Defense games. In Bloons Tower Defense 6, Golden Bloons are back and stronger than ever. Here’s how you can decisively pop all of them.

Golden Bloons spawn on random maps every weekend from Friday to Sunday in BTD6. Navigate your map list to find the map it spawns on and play it in any mode. Golden Bloons are harder to pop since they only take one damage per hit from any source and bounce away faster each time you hit them. Additionally, they gain new properties every time they spawn.

This is how often the Golden Bloons spawn every match and their properties.

While the first Golden Bloon is easy to pop with enough hits, the situation quickly gets more complicated as the rounds progress. You eventually need monkeys with Camo detection, Lead popping, high pierce, and quick attack speed. Thankfully, you don’t need any specific Heroes or Paragons to deal with this nuisance.

You can gain the above buffs by using a two-three-zero Monkey Village (Monkey Intelligence Bureau with Jungle Drums), but you still need a tower or two that can pop Golden Bloons. This is where you have two options: The Ice Monkey and the Glue Gunner.

Method one: Ice Monkey

The most reliable old-school method is to use the Ice Monkey. Get it up to a zero-two-two crosspath, which gives your monkey the needed attack speed and the ability to re-freeze the Golden Bloon, allowing you to pop it faster. Buffing this monkey with a Monkey Village allows it to consistently pop all Golden Bloons in a run.

Method two: Glue Gunner

An alternate method is to use the Glue Gunner. Upgrading it to a minimum two-zero-two with a Monkey Intelligence Bureau and Jungle Drums should let the tower consistently pop Golden Bloons. If you’re using this tower for control, eventually upgrading it to Super Glue would let it hold the Golden Bloon in place for as long as it takes to pop through its layers.

Choose either of these methods, and you will eventually pop your share of Golden Bloons. Pick Hard or Impoppable modes for the best results to encounter the most spawns per match and get you closer to achieving that coveted 500 Golden Bloons achievement.
