Epic highlights best Fortnite tournament plays in new Plays of the Week series

Fortnite pros are getting some time in the spotlight.

Epic Games has started to produce more content for Fortnite: Battle Royale’s competitive series. The company has revealed a new video series that will highlight the best plays of every week of competition in the Fortnite Champion Series, which is simply called Plays of the Week.

The company released the first video on its competitive Fortnite Twitter account. It’s a three-minute video that highlights one big play from each region, including the newly-introduced Middle East server.

The clips this week ranged from top trios to those who just made a great play during FNCS last weekend. From Oceania, for instance, Epic highlighted a play by Renegade’s Jesse “x2Twins Jesse” Eckley, who placed first in his region. From Europe, Epic showed a play by 104th-place Liam “Kamo” Fillery from Ghost Gaming. Epic is probably looking for top plays overall, not necessarily those pulled off by teams who finished at the top of the standings.

Even though some of the plays in the video might seem a bit too common for this level of competition, they’re still nice to watch. North America East’s highlighted player, Riot Squad’s Clarityg, made it to Plays of the Week with a perfect vertical Shockwave Grenade. He went from low to high ground to take control of the area and picked up an elimination and the win.

Epic said it’s highlighting plays made during the FNCS, so fans shouldn’t expect anything from midweek Contender or Champion Cash Cups. These are one-off events that won’t develop throughout the season, unlike the FNCS.

If you want a chance to be highlighted in these videos, you can try to qualify for the weekly FNCS matches by achieving the Champion division in Arena with your trio.
