Legendary Runes are items used to upgrade your weapons to the maximum level. They can be acquired by defeating Fell enemies, specifically Fell bosses found guarding Shroud Roots in several regions across the game.

A boss that can quickly be located, fought, and easily defeated, which drops the item, is the Fell ThunderBrute. Fell ThunderBrutes can be found in many regions guarding Shroud Roots.

A Fell ThunderBrute with some Legendary Runes can be found in the Elixir Well, specifically in the Springlands Region. It is found east of Braelyn Bridge, just north of Longkeep. It is also one of the first areas where the item can be found. You’ll find one guarding a bright red Shroud Root, and you’ll have to fight and defeat it to get some Legendary Runes.

Fighting this specific ThunderBrute won’t be hard, as it is a low-level boss and only a few swings off your weapon should be enough to take it down, especially if you’re anything above level 10. Defeat it and you’ll get two Fell Thunderbrute Heads, a Bronze Sword, two Shroud Cores, and nine Legendary Runes. Getting these runes instantly unlock the Legendary Rune recipe at the Blacksmith, allowing you to craft them from him.

Another location where you can find a Fell Thunderbrute Head is the Low Tide village in Kindlewastes. It can be found in the extreme southeast of the Kindlewastes, and defeating it will net you more Legendary Runes. While Legendary runes fall from several Fell enemies, Fell Thunderbrutes are the easiest bosses to farm the item off.

How to craft and use Legendary Runes in Enshrouded

To craft a Legendary Rune, you’ll need to visit the Blacksmith. Crafting them is the easiest and quickest way to get them. You only need 25 regular Runes to craft a Legendary Rune, and there’s no waiting time.

After the recent post-game update, Legendary Runes can now be used to upgrade and enhance your best weapons, including legendary ones, to the maximum level. Additionally, they allow you to add Gems, which are powerful items that imbue unique effects to weapons.

Once you’ve used a Legendary Rune on a weapon, you can then add a Gem to it at the Gem Forge. However, once Legendary Runes are used, they cannot be recovered, so it’s best to be careful and be absolutely sure when using them.
