Expansions are the biggest updates by far, with a campaign, multiple new weapons and armor, and several activities tied to that destination. Lightfall and The Final Shape also bring a new subclass each (Strand and Prismatic, respectively). Expansions let you access Exotic weapons and armor, though you must obtain them from the appropriate sources.

Episodes are the game’s seasons. Destiny 2 has three episodes per expansion cycle, each lasting four months. This year’s episodes will disappear after The Final Shape ends.

Content Packs are smaller pieces of content that grant access to Exotic and Legendary weapons, generally alongside a raid and a dungeon, letting you get the equipment by playing the proper activities. Dungeon keys are sold in the in-game shop and grant you access to two dungeons each, though you must still farm their respective weapons and Exotics.

Keep an eye out for discounts since most of these items may appear with a markdown of 75 percent or more. Individual DLCs can go on sale without the Legacy Collection pack getting a discount.

Which Destiny 2 DLC should I buy?

Normally, purchasing the most recent DLC is more beneficial, though it usually comes with a much heavier price tag. Buying the latest expansion also grants you the current episode at the time of purchase, which makes the deal less bitter.

Episodes, on the other hand, are generally worth buying since they have a good cost for the amount of content they offer.

It’s worth adding older expansions to your cart when they’re on sale, but your budget will dictate if it’s worth paying the full price for them. If you want to get everything at once, the Legacy Collection is a better deal when discounts aren’t involved.

Likewise, you should always buy content packs when they’re discounted since they go for cheap, but they’re not worth the full price.
