Trachinus god rolls and how to get them in Destiny 2

It doesn't even look like a shotgun.

The Edge of Fate expansion has been extremely generous in giving us new weapon archetypes to play with in Destiny 2—from Rocket-Assisted pulses to Spread Shot hand cannons, and now the Rapid-Fire Slug shotguns in the form of Trachinus.

Trachinus is the first Rapid-Fire Slug shotgun that fires slugs at 90 rounds per minute. This is a Stasis weapon, so it features perks for Stasis synergy while also dealing respectable damage. Of course, if you want to go full-DPS, you can do that too.

Here are our Trachinus god rolls for PvE and PvP in Destiny 2.

What is the Trachinus god roll in Destiny 2?

Trachinus PvE god roll

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
  • Magazine: Assault Mag
  • Perk one: Lead from Gold
  • Perk two: Precision Instrument or Chill Clip
  • Masterwork: Reload Speed

Trachinus PvP god roll

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
  • Magazine: Accurized Rounds
  • Perk one: Killing Wind
  • Perk two: Encore or Binary Orbit
  • Masterwork: Range

There are plenty of good rolls for PvE, but the generalist choice would be Lead from Gold with Chill Clip. Lead from Gold grants 25 percent special ammo when picking up heavy ammo, and Chill Clip applies 60 slow stacks with the top half of the magazine. It’s a great utility perk to stun Overload Champions and deal additional shatter damage.

For melee-focused builds, you can also use Proximity Power in the third column, which grants 15 Melee stat when getting final blows near enemies, up to three stacks. And for more pure damage, there’s Precision Instrument in the fourth column, which grants up to 25 percent increased damage. If you want more Stasis synergy, combinations like Rimestealer with Headstone and Rimestealer with Chill Clip are also available.

This weapon was clearly designed for PvE. It performs well on its own inside of Crucible, but there’s almost nothing worthwhile for PvP in the perk department. Killing Wind grants 50 mobility, 40 handling, and 20 range with final blows, and you can pair it with something like Encore to get some extra range. Alternatively, Binary Orbit grants a 25 percent damage increase when getting a kill with an opposing element. In this case, it would be your primary.

Trachinus is available for a limited time during the Heavy Metal event. The event features a Tanks vs Brigs PvP game mode, where you duke it out in heavy machinery. Completing a match of Heavy Metal has a chance to drop Trachinus and the Synanceia sword, among other weapons, with Tiers depending on your Power level.

There’s also a Holofoil version of the weapon that comes with a unique ornament, just like Phoneutria Fera during Arms Week.
