Phoneutria Fera god rolls and how to get them in Destiny 2

The first shotgun hand cannon.

The Edge of Fate introduced multiple new weapon frames to Destiny 2, from a Rocket-Assisted pulse rifle to a Spread Shot hand cannon, which features the Phoneutria Fera as its first weapon.

Phoneutria Fera is a Solar Spread Shot hand cannon. Spread Shot fires a short-range spread of pellets, making the weapon feel more like a shotgun. What contributes to that feeling even more is a range of shotgun perks, like One-Two Punch, available on Phoneutria Fera.

Here are our Phoneutria Fera god rolls for PvE and PvP in Destiny 2.

Phoneutria Fera PvE god roll

  • Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling
  • Magazine: Tactical Mag
  • Perk one: Slideshot or Threat Detector
  • Perk two: Incandescent
  • Masterwork: Reload Speed

Phoneutria Fera PvE god roll

  • Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling
  • Magazine: Accurized Rounds
  • Perk one: Slideshot or Threat Detector
  • Perk two: Swashbuckler
  • Masterwork: Range

The generalist PvE god roll features a reload perk in the third column. Slideshot refills 15 percent of your mag when sliding, and Threat Detector grants up to 60 reload speed when multiple enemies are nearby. In the fourth column, there’s Incandescent, a go-to Solar perk for add-clear and spreading scorch to enemies.

For melee-focused builds, you can take advantage of Proximity Power with One-Two Punch. Proximity Power grants bonus Melee stats while enemies are nearby (15 per stack, up to three stacks), and One-Two Punch increases the damage of your next melee after landing all pellets in the shot by 75 percent.

In PvP, Spread Shot hand cannons have their own niche, and we have seen them become oppressive with something like Hunter’s Lightweight Knives. It’s all about getting used to its effective range, which can feel awkward at first.

Phoneutria Fera doesn’t offer much when it comes to PvP perks compared to the Aureus Neutralizer from Trials of Osiris, though. Threat Detector or Slideshot are still good choices in the third column, but in the fourth, you’re limited to perks like Swashbuckler, granting you bonus damage on kills, up to 33.3 percent at five stacks.

Phoneutria Fera is available from limited-time events in Destiny 2. It was available during the Arms Week event, where you had to farm Combat Telemetry to get rewards, and more recently, during the week of Iron Banner.

During events like Arms Week, you can get a copy of Phoneutria Fera by focusing Engrams at Ada-1 in the Shooting Range. For events with dedicated activities, like Iron Banner, simply playing the activities and getting reward packages can net you multiple drops.

You can get additional copies from the Event Home menu in the Portal. Any weapon has a chance to be a Holofoil, with a unique ornament that varies, depending on the event. The maximum Tier of the weapons you get across the entire event depends on your Power level and the Guardian Rank.
